The most tragic thing in all of this is that his life was extinguished for attempting to pass that fake note ... and it took 4 heavily armed policemen to respond to that most heinous of crimes
George entered the shop, he was inside it for what appeared quite some time. He did nothing wrong, he was interacting with people and coherent. Yes, he may have been high, but that merely slowed his response time. My view he was an energetic big man, but not offensive in any way shape or form. None of his body language would cause any casue for concern. He then at some point passed the (fake?) bill. I assume the cashier is worried because a fake note, comes out of his money. Other than that, everything is calm and normal. It's only when the cops turned up later (from footage already seen) before this witness, things got fooking stupid.
One of the advantages of living in the UK is that nobody would've turned up to deal with it for about 3 weeks. Not sure how that's somehow a vast improvement on an immediate reaction from the police, but it clearly was on this occasion.
Wow....cashier just revealed he didn't believe that George knew it was a fake bill, but he was passed it by another person who did. So George was oblivious at passing the bill that it was fake, by this witness, recall of events.
I've missed some of it, but from what I can gather trying to catch up, George was in a car with two other people, if I've caught up with this right. It was one of those two other people who the cashier thought knew the bill was fake. The cashier made several attempts to get George (now in the car with two other people) to come back in the store, before the police were called. Ffs I've not heard about these two other people before. Cashier regrets ever saying the bill was fake, but we have to remember this was his earnings that it gets taken from. Poor kid (cashier) is only 19.
He'll be scarred for life without proper counselling... needs drumming into him that he is in no way responsible ... a non-psychopath cop answers the call and it's just another routine incident ... slapped wrist.
Just seen a SKY expert or whoever he is, claim that the cashier saying that he didn't think George knew the bill was fake is very damning to the defence. Technically it's suggested they arrested the wrong guy! I would argue of course it was George that tried to pass it though, even if he didn't know it was fake.
If you recall, GF and Chauvin worked as doormen at the same club - albeit they may not have worked the same shifts. Wonder if Chauvin recognised him and there was some underlying reason for such a way over the top response compared to 'the crime'
Just totally crazy a guy that is a little high is killed in cold blood for passing $20 that he didn't even know was fake. It's a crazy chain of events that turned into a total train wreck.
I've not heard anyone confirm if it was fake or not, so I still don't know. The cashier held the $20 up to the light, and the defence asked, what were you looking for, his reply was, I really don't know. So he was just conforming to what a lot of people do, hold bills up to the light. There was something about an exchange of bills in the debate over it being fake later, but I missed that part of the evidence. It will probably be repeated at some point. Defence then asked, how did you know it was fake, because the colour(s) did not look right. That seemed to be his main reason for establishing it was fake, the colours. He was asked if he had fake bills before, I'm sure his response was no.
This appears to be a pretty accurate account of what occured today... https://www.forbes.com/sites/jemima...ll-this-couldve-been-avoided/?sh=5b6d6f5c67e5
That makes it even worse, as you’d have thought that the fake bill would have been bagged as evidence before they even lifted him. As otherwise what offence has he actually supposedly committed? The fact that it’s seemingly not been either taken by the cops or saved by the shop, points to it not even being a fake.
If the cops had the bill, you would have thought that it would have been produced as evidence by now, all very odd.
One of the cashiers had the $20 bill, but the cop never took it, he went straight outside to apprehend GF from his vehicle across the road. George seems quite emotional for some reason.
