Erm yeah that sounds about right... It should look something like this: Employment income ----- 7,035 Less Personal Allowance (5,035) Chargeable to tax -------2,000 Tax due 2,000 @ 20% ----- 400 Less deducted at source -- (500) Refund due ---------------- 100 So I guess the 2,136 is your taxable income, tax due on that is the 427, and I assume they then deduct whatever you paid at source, e.g. 500 to come to your actual refund amount (in this case it would be be £73), is that right? P.S. I've tried to make it all line up, may have failed miserably lol
