Swarbs, as a rational man (surprising given who you support ), you've seen my views on diving and know I don't like it. Every club has them and it will never go away. Seeing through it, for all he did it, Ronaldo was and is an exceptional player, as is Suarez. I wish they all wouldn't do it, but they do. As physical contact has been consistently reduced in football over the years, so the incidence in diving has increased. It's become too easy to get a rise from the ref.
Its the only thing that lets him down at the minute. It doesnt gain any advantage and just makes him look stupid so I dont see why he does it at all. At least diving can lead to an advantage or something.
as long as doesn't start kissing the camera he 's ok. ... not like some phil collins fan i can think of ........freak!
I think the problem with simulation is that whenever anyone gets a reputation for it, it colours all future perceptions of them. Ronaldo, Robben, Nani and Gerrard all dived quite a bit in the early parts of their career, and so are still seen as play actors years later even if it's no longer deserved. Gerrard is probably a good example of this - it's been a good three years or four since he did anything that looked like a dive, but he still has the rep hanging over him from back in the early 2000s. Completely agree. I think we need a football snick-o-meter that can pick up the sounds of contact between players. That way bans can be given to anyone who can be shown to have gone down without contact. Oh wait, that would be using technology, wouldn't it? Back to the drawing board...
I aint **** all like KPR. If someone is being a ****ing moron I tell them. I dont go and start ripping on footballers dead or alive and mocking football disasters. Im also rational though i will intentionally wind up Terrif cos hes funny as ****. So **** you RHC, the Christian Smith of the Liverpool board.
Troo dat Swarbs...but only in this country. At least the player's only got one person to blame for it. Guess, we hold grudges/uphold truths better/worse than any country in the known footballing universe! Just won't wash.
Gunna double neg UIR for his double neg. But wait, least that means the statement's accurate. They EXACTLY alike. Polar opps. I'm torn...
Most of the foreign imports cut it down eventually, from Klinsman through to Ronaldo. It'll be interesting to see if Suarez does but when it ends in players getting sent off and ulitimately turning the game like the Mersey derby it might take a while. I'd love to say there were no divers in United's squad but it sadly isn't true.
Come on. Rodwell did catch him with his trailing leg. Completely unintentional, but it wasn't a dive. I didn't like the writhing around though.
Not saying that WASN'T foul by Rodwell are you Rus? Trailing leg was left right the eff in - and caught him. High. I think it was a yellow. Wasn't a red obvs. But, just checking, you're surely not blaming Suarez for that are you?
Exclusive of actually hurting someone, I think there are a lot of things that players can try to get ahead - beyond the rules of the game. I played centre midfield. Used to try all sorts but nothing more sinister than the odd tug or arm to get in front of player...if ya clever enough to do it without the ref seeing...*shrug* But you gotta think a player repeating the same blantant trick every week...isolated out on a wing - on TV, no less!...they've got to be puuuurrrrity stoopid. Clamp down. Job done. I don't think it's a problem in the Prem, I really don't.
This. Never said it was a dive Spev, the over reaction no doubt helped the ref make his decision. It was barely a foul.
