They estimate a court trial on the number of witnesses for both sides.

Lots to come to change my mind.

But my deep untrust of the system is right there still at the front of my mind.

I've been on Jury service twice and each one was longer than that trial. Time they've called every doctor and his wife, and into that all his training officers, and cop buddies who want to say what a good bloke he is.

They will have a list of witnesses and the type of evidence they are likely to provide, that is how they estimate timing.

I know mate, I watched the opening credits, they've must have about a dozen top medical people they are calling in. I'm hoping the paramedics that arrived on the scene have to appear as well, because their behaviour seemed strange.

You can never be forced to take the stand. It's up to him.

I've got no idea if the killer cop will take the stand, tbph I don't want to hear what he's got to say for himself anyway. Certainly got no time for his sob story.

Not followed it too closely but saw the original footage, those paras knew he was dead as soon as they got to him and threw him in the van like a piece of meat.

American law is different from ours and the actual charge has to be proved for a guilty verdict to come in. I say this because i believe the prosecution are going for murder in the 1st/2nd degree, if this is so and something i have read in about 5 different places is right (that being the autopsy didn't provide asphyxiation as cause of death) then the charge should be involuntary/negligent manslaughter to have a better chance of success.

Yes i know about the 8mins 46 seconds, yes it was brutal and deserves the longest term possible but the law over there is very clear, prove the actual charge or lose the case.

The fact they have to prove it isn't any different than here surely? 'Beyond reasonable doubt' in our case.

Good to know you made the same judgement of the paramedics that I did.

Yeah, I know nothing about American law, I understand what you're saying, I guessed it wouldn't be straight forward.

No it's very similar except they have to prove the specific charge.

In this case let's say theoretically that the actual cause of death was heart attack due to stress and the charge is 1st degree murder for pinning him with his neck.
Now that case would be hard to prove beyond doubt because the cop couldn't possibly know he had a heart condition and so the verdict would (in America) have to be not guilty.
On the other hand, if the autopsy proved the death was caused by oxygen starvation either to the brain or lungs then the charge would hold and the cop would go down for life.
