Pretty sure they did with Skipp and Parrott

Skipp made sense, considering he'd already made his first team debut before then

The Daily Star (oh great...) have linked with with Vejle striker Wahid ***hir, who has been called the next Ibrahimovic in spite the obvious issue that he's Danish and not Swedish, after Vejle rejected Leicester's £1m bid for him

I'm going to have to actually say why this might be a good idea, aren't I?

The obvious bonus for ***hir is that he's 17 and has just broken into Vejle's team, scoring 8 goals in 20 appearances this season, and is contracted until the end of 2022 since that's how contracts work in summer leagues. As far as I can gather he's more of a poacher than any of the other strikers we have, and at 6'1" he's got some decent size to him, so if we can pick him up cheap he does sound like the sort of low risk punts we haven't made for a while - but more than anything else, and the only reason I mentioned it, this would imply that we'll likely be moving Dane Scarlett up to a higher level next season

Lot of talk about trying to get Sabitzer in the summer.

I like this, I like this a lot.

He'll only have a year left on his contract and apparently doesn't want to sign an extension.
I'd have thought that there'd be some competition to bring him in.

I've seen Pool and Utd both been mentioned as other suitors. Bild claimed that we're 75% to be his next club though, whatever that means lol.

Is he any good? On the few occasions I have seen him, he has looked quite ordinary.

Yeah I like him, mate. Technical, classy, strong personality and he’s versatile, can play CM, CAM and RM/RW. He destroyed us last season in the CL too, so if you can’t beat them, buy them ;)

An attacking midfield trio of Sabitzer, Lo Celso and Son would be terrifying - especially if Sabitzer and Lo Celso switch positions on the fly

Club Brugge are apparently interested in Toby according to Voetbal 24. The Dutch and Belgian press have generally been very accurate when reporting Spurs stories in the past.

Wonder if they fancy a 2 for 1 deal and take Dier with him?

(The Other) Serie A Rando Watch
Mundo Deportivo have linked us with Palmeiras' 20 year old centre midfielder, gilding the proverbial lily a little more by suggesting that due to Palmeiras' financial issues (i.e. Brazilian football being run on thin margins at the best of times, so a global pandemic has thrown a fox into the henhouse) he could be available for a decidedly Levyish £13m even though he's contracted until 2024

As the current Brazilian season is a handful of games in at this point it's better to look at his stats for the 2020 season, which...****ing hell, their first game of the 2020 season was on 22nd January 2020 and the last one on 7th March 2021??? Bloody hell, even for South American football seasons that's insane

Anyway, for the 14-month deathmarch that was the 2020 season, Menino played all over the pitch, mainly as either a CM or DM but also did stints as an AM, RB, RW and was getting a decent number of assists in the process - in every single one of those positions, and the only thing which impeded his progress was a spot of Covid last November, so he could certainly do a job on a wet Tuesday night at Selhurst park given he wouldn't be the first bloke with the Brazilian variant seen in Croydon

So how to describe this bloke then? Well, as you can probably guess by his being a CM/DM who can fill in as a RB, the easiest comparison is Sissoko considering the way he moves the ball, although he's got some of Ndombele's tricks in his locker as well as the fact that, as he has some assists to his name, he is a much better passer

So worth a punt? At that price, certainly - especially as he'll count as U21 for a season so have less affect on our squad balance for a year, which allows us three windows to reshape the squad into what we want/need, although no doubt there's numerous La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga, Premier League and possibly Ligue 1 teams all pricking their ears at this, and MD already have Atletico Madrid, Juventus and the Chavs listed as potential suitors alongside us

Any chance we can get Doherty on a 6 week crash-course in Flemish?

The bulletpoints of Alasdair Gold's latest video

    • Mourinho's future - If we get 5th + Cup he might stay. If we lose the final and drop out of Europe he is gone. Top4 is not the deciding factor. Levy need to see improvement and a clear direction.

    • Club sale - No intention to sell at the moment. Market is ****ed so probably a long term thing.

    • Dybala - Italian media is pushing him towards us. Probably not happening, too expensive.

    • Lloris - Spurs open to sell but it's up to him if he leaves this summer. He is more likely to stay.

    • Sessegnon - Probably another loan for him. Unless Madrid buys Reguilón back. Davies important squad player and unlikely to leave

    • Jack Clarke - Mou likes him. Another loan most likely

    • Kane - Levy wants more than 150 mil for him. Long term deal. Not leaving unless a massive offer comes which is unlikely

    • Winks and Dele want to leave if Mourinho stays. Lamela, Sissoko, Gaz, Moura, Aurier all could leave

    • Sabitzer - Need money.

    • Bale - 50/50 if he stays

    • Transfer priority - A leader CB

    • Son wants to stay. Spurs want him to stay. Contract maybe in the summer.

    • Stadium name - Club wants way more than 250 million

I think that they'll both be quite low on the list, as they're not particularly valuable, they're versatile and Mourinho likes them.
It may depend on whether we can get rid of other people and who we have in the academy coming through.

Lucas has done enough to warrant being a squad player, he’s very inconsistent but he’s often always there if you need him, Lamela’s been stealing a living for about 3 years now though. God knows how much he’s picked up for not kicking a football at this club. Has to go, albeit not the first out the door.

Honestly, a year ago I was happy for him to go as at best he could be described as a Brazilian Andros Townsend who scored once every eight games to make himself look better than he is, at worst a Brazilian Theo Walcott dining out on a hat trick he scored once for a lot longer than was healthy - yet in recent months he's been upping his workrate significantly so if the opponents have the ball on their left flank he actually puts in the work to try and win it back rather than leave our right flank the shooting gallery it has been far too often in the last eighteen months

If anyone on the list should go, Sissoko and Aurier are it - the former so we can deploy Hojbjerg as a box-to-box and bring in a dedicated DM (or, if we're feeling bold, just give Skippy the ball to run with) while Aurier will be the impetus to get a RB who fits in any system outside of Super Sidekicks 2 - and given that was released in arcades back in 1994, that's not a good thing to say about someone

Ezri Konsa’s signed a new deal at Villa.

He’s a Spurs fan apparently and was also linked with us a few weeks back, so that puts to bed any potential summer move.

Hardly the CB we need, though

Our defence needs a commanding CB who could head a 747 off the six yard line if that's what it would take to prevent a goal, and Konsa simply isn't that

I think we need two CBs, especially if we can shift two of Dier/ Toby/ Sanchez, so I wouldn’t be against the idea of one of the new defenders being a younger one, but a Ramos/ leader type is certainly the dream signing.

And yes, I’m absolutely getting my hopes up we actually sign Ramos himself, despite knowing full well it’s never happening.
