The problem for Labour is that their former industrial heartlands no longer have any industry.

So where you once had a unionised, politically informed working population, you now have a load of badly tattooed beer guzzling serfs working in call centres, who will support any party that actively encourages them to shout ‘Engerlund!’ In foreigner people’s faces.

It is a problem, certainly. The fact remains, however, that all those ordinary working people who voted Tory are about to get the absolute shafting they asked for. Harsh on the rest of us, that, but at least we can laugh at you lot when the reality of becoming a low wage low regulated kleptocracy begins to bite.
