Sterling the wingers stay wide, the 2 attacking cms push on and have licesnce to find space in between the lines. the full backs are actually sort of tucke din with rodri planying more as midfield support. Guardiola looks for overloads and tried to encourgae pressing agaisnt his side to find those passes into the advanced players. it doesn't really matter to him how plays in the jesus role as long and the attacking cMs (and he had 4 or 5 of them) are finding the space. Guardiola needs that critical space working as thats where the talent find the space and finds the next pass to cut teams open. Van dijk ...............................Fabinho ...........................................wijnaldum ....................Henderson Trent........................................................robertson ...............salah...... firmino......mane So we find a serious commitment to high press and width there. Obviously this is all messed up this year but the front 3 are tight and narrow, the full backs are trying to be advanced as possible, usually one of the 2 more advanced cms is just freer to proess and go and usually it was henderson. If we play keita then he goes higher onnthe left and does more half space pressing and makes good interceptions. (its the only reason i hold any small hope for him at all) This system also has a high line but relies on fast transition back and the pace of the cbs to cope. Kabak Trent..........................Fabinho .......................................... .wijnaldum ....................Thaigo..................................robertson ....................................................... salah................. firmino.........mane We seem to be doing the following. Phillips and kabak are not as high up so we are quite shy now about pushing up. Trent is certainly sitting deeper. We are also not seeing two guys in mfieldfile more advanced, we are at best seeing 1 go and then we swap it after a half hour or so, almost as if one guy can't press for 90 anymore. Salah is certain glued to the right win and mane is pulled in very narrow to create some space fro robertson to go forward into if he can. firminho is sort of displaced by mane as a no 9 and might sit deeper or even move left depednin on what he wants. WHen jota plays he is almost the left win. We are trying to cope with the cbs but have really no faith in their ability I would hope that we can get more back to our regualr team ASAP even with phillips and kabak as I feel like we've made far too many accomodations now to fix the pace issue.

Its not for him to say when our player will be fit. We could have at least used the player in a bluff for the CL for example. We had even started rumours he might be back after this window which was never likley.

i find these internationals dreadfully dull. First they are packed in like sardines, 3 games in a week with no prep time and zero thought to players welfare. Oyu are then treated to england B and C v these crap teams. Then you've just the general quality of games which is incredibly dull. We went form the champions league last 16 games where cheslea v atletico was high class opposition and there were several games at the same kind of level and intrigue to this absolute boring lower league fare. Engand v albania and sand marwhoever they got out of a building site this week. I find myself really hoping vvd, henderson and gomez dont get fit for the euros and taa doesn't get picked so next year might have half a team starting off. Olympics, ACON, copa america, euros. its a night mare for preparations for 21/22
Could have stopped after the first line, imo. Said it for years, but I find them no more than an irritating break in the club programme. I watch some of them at times, but it's only like an alcoholic resorting to meths because all the booze has run out.
