It is worth mentioning that we did make enquiries about Nagelsmann when Poch went, only to be told he didn't want to change clubs midseason So, let's see if Joao Sacramento's reputation holds up...
If Mourinho was a benign presence, maybe leaving him in post for the rest of the season could just be possible? He isn't. Hugo's interview indicates that there's a schism in the dressing room and that's just a few short weeks after Mourinho's attempts to 'clear the air' with a number of the squad. Mourinho's just not capable of 'holding things together'. Once things start to fall apart, he just makes things worse and worse. Left to see out the season, it's likely to be carnage. In 2015/16 he took a title winning Chelsea team to relegation form by acting like a complete dickhead and in 2018/19, he was well en route to doing the same at United. Unless Levy intends to back him long term and state that he's going to be manager next season, no matte what, he has to put the club first and get him out the door as soon as posible. If we lose to Villa, he has to go before more players are giving interviews like Hugo's and we have a whole load of Danny Rose dickheads on our hands.
Somebody must have missed all the reports talking about his burgeoning reputation, for example https://www.skysports.com/football/...hotspur-is-a-coaching-prodigy-shaped-in-wales https://www.telegraph.co.uk/footbal...acramento-academic-coach-has-gone-university/
Remember when everyone was talking about AVB as some sort of coaching prodigy? Even Chelsea fell for it.
Like many others, Hoddle and Mourinho come instantly to mind, he was **** at inter-personal relationships. It really doesn't matter how much of a tactical genius a manager is, if the players hate his guts and stop listening. Once a sufficient number have taken against a manager, the whole thing is ****ed. 'Keep your friends close but keep your enemies closer still' is good advice.
Today we must win, we need to win all our remaining matches. We finished last season strongly. Top 4 is still mathematically possible so we must continue the fight to live another day. No excuses now. Fight to the end!
If I could gaze into a crystal ball and see Mourinho getting the sack despite a top 4 finish and a new manager could come in with CL football to offer new players, I would agree. But it has honestly got to the stage where I would rather we miss out if it meant him going and Levy getting the wake up call he has failed to heed after each of our 3 successful managers of the ENIC era. Also for what it's worth I don't think scraping 4th will be enough to convince Kane and Son to stay. 4th plus the Carabao perhaps. Maybe just maybe. But we're not beating City.
Sorry but I'm not one for hoping for bad results in the hope of achieving consequences that some may deem as positive. If we can get top 4 and win the league cup, then why not aspire to it. The likes of Kane and Son are NOT going to stick around whatever happens this year. They have seen the likes of Modric, Walker, Bale etc leave for success and more money. They have ambitions that we can not meet in the short term. If anyone thinks getting rid of Jose will resolve these matters, then good luck. So let's hope for a strong finish, then maybe consider changing the manager/squad. But whatever happens, Kane and Son will not stick around forever.
Except he was a head coach, so that's not really the same thing However, if the plan is to bring through Sacramento, there's one obvious issue to consider: won't the players be pissed off that he stood back and did nothing while the ubermensch was publicly flogging them for his own ****ups?
If I could gaze into a crystal ball and guarantee Jose gets the sack despite top 4 and a new manager comes in with CL football to offer new players, I would agree. But it has got to the point where I honestly want us to collapse as badly as possible now...whatever's needed to give Levy the kick up the arse he has ignored in the wake of each of our 3 most successful PL managers. I don't think scraping top 4 will be enough to convince Kane and Son to stay. Even 4th plus the Carabao is a stretch. And I'm sick of going round in the circles we've seen since the Redknapp era. Strike lucky on a manager, exceed expectations, get CL football, fail to back manager, results decline, sack manager, appoint buffoon, tread water, sack buffoon, strike lucky on new manager. Wash, rinse and repeat. We need a fresh start. Fresh enough that Levy removes himself from every footballing equation. This entire cock up is on his shoulders.
Yeah I agree with TO, I don't dislike Jose enough to actually want him to do badly because that only results in us suffering the consequences. We really need European football at this football club, CL is the dream but EL is adequate, without either it at least doubles the already high chances of one or both of Kane and Son wanting out and removes any extra income. As a bloke I've really come around to like Jose but as a manager I just don't think he's done well enough and regardless of whether I want a new manager I certainly don't want Jose to fail.
Yes I was about to say similar: one way or another, Sacramento is part of this horror show. Either his coaching methods have contributed to our under-performance, or he is too much of a sycophant to stand up to Maureen and influence his methods for the better. Either way, it isn't good and his 'reputation as a prodigy' will have taken a bashing from this.
Yeah I get that and hate myself for saying it but...I just thoroughly dislike the manager, have done since day 1. And more disturbingly, I find myself actually loathing the sight of so many players. Similar to the circus we had in the AVB/Dim season. There are so many players I never want to see wearing the shirt again. And to get rid of them would require the scorched earth approach we saw in Poch's first 2-3 windows. Whatever it takes for that to happen, that's where I'm voting.
Yeah see I don't dislike him as a person. I've found him to be engaging and humorous at times and I've come to realise just why he's the box office name in management but ultimately it's not about whether I like or dislike him as a person, it's about whether I think he's doing a good job or not and I don't think he is. I loved Poch, as did practically every other Spurs fan but I recognised he needed to go at the end, for his own sake as well as ours, I think mentally he was broken here and getting out probably done him some good. I agree on the players though, I said just the other day I genuinely hate some of them and I don't think I've ever hated my own players before. I think their attitude stinks, I don't think they give their all and I get the impression we have some real sulkers and moaners around the place which has aided our poor form, Lloris' comments the other day further implied there's bad eggs here. There's only about a handful I'd be sorry to see go, the rest can **** off to League 2 for all I care.
