Not really. The problem wasn't that rugby was buggering the pitch up 7t that people weren't doing their job. Other clubs share with rugby clubs with no problems. Swansea got the PL pitch of the year sharing it with a union club, which with contested scrums, rucks etc causes more damage and is played at the same timecas football all through the worst weather in the winter..

A hearing at Wilberforce Court has already been told that the company ran by Ehab Allam admitted it unfairly dismissed the pair.

But the company is arguing that no compensation should be paid to the ground staff, claiming that Mr Cook worked as a kitman for Hull FC when he was supposed to be working for the SMC.

    https://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/new...nal-unfairly-dismissed-kcom-groundsmen-693305

I'm not sure why you'd think they'd give me the £40k, I had nothing to do with it.

Again 'certain procedures had to followed after a rugby game...' Because after such games the pitch was usually cut up badly and the divots had to be replaced quickly. Call me old fashioned but I'm assuming if there wasn't a rugby game the pitch wouldn't be cut up and there wouldn't be any divots to replace ?

Remind me why this has been brought up again ? The groundsmen were sacked for not doing their job ? right ?
The club did not have to pay them any compensation ? right ?
The Trust, of which you were an advocate and a contributor, or so you claimed at the time, helped with the crowd funding for the sacked gentlemen, who went public claiming they had been unfairly sacked and denied any wrongdoing ?
    They lost the case ?
Why are you still fighting their corner for them ?
    It's history.

The thing is does rugby cause more harm to the pitch than football? And the answer is no. The fact that elsewhere pitches are shared without these problems suggest it is the pitch that is the problem. If they didn't play anything on it then it would be even better.

Swansea replaced their pitch last season, at a cost of 500k, for the first time since moving to their new stadium, for a variety of reasons it's fooked!

Always interesting listening to Adam, he is very open with his comments, unlike the current owners.

I can't help feeling, even though he might be looking at the possibility of building a new stadium, that also this a comment to flag up to SMC of that possibility, laying the foundations for a negotiation to get better terms if they do decide in time to renew the lease.

You tell me, it was you who brought it up.<doh>

I left the Trust well over a year before the groundsman were sacked, I don’t know them, I didn’t have any involvement in the decision to back them and as they lied, have no issue with them getting nothing.

How much better terms could they have John?
As I keep saying this is just a rallying call to the great unwashed.
There’s no money in druggy league as it is
Who in their right mind would fund a 15000 seat stadium at a cost of? What say 20 million been generous. With no chance of any profit
They’d have to maintain it, again not cheap to do. On 11 games a season!!! Ye right.

The most sensible thing for both Hull RL clubs would be to ground share Craven Park. Or merge. Of course it will never happen or be seriously considered whilst this 'City Divided' bullshit exists in people's minds.
Or what about HCC finally seeing sense and selling the KC and from the proceeds loaning Fc enough to tart up Costello, which also must be a drain on HCC coffers ?

Replaced after 2 sports which are both played at the same time during the worst weather have used the pitch for years. How often have we replaced 9r done work on one where the 2 sports only overlap for a short period? Meanwhile the worst pitches we have played on this season have been on pitches where only football is played.
I would love to see FC move out. Read the comments from deluded FC fans on that in the HDM, it is comedy gold.

Have read of the comments in the HDM on this. There is deluded and then there is FC fans.
They say how frustrated AP must be that the SMC is in the hands of the football club. It wasn't that long ago that Pearson was the devil incarnate to them and they were moaning the SMC was in his hands. They seem to forget also the favourable terms he granted FC when he was in charge of the SMC which meant City were for a long time subsidising FC. One of the understandable things Assem Allam did was to rectify that situation, something FC didn't like.

I've had a chuckle this morning reading the comments on the HDM site. One not so funny was the racist comment made about the Allams which I'm amazed didn't get flagged up by the site admin. Especially when quite innocent posts get flagged or deleted for no reason at all.
The post about City playing at Sunday League level took me straight back to the 80s when one letter writer to the HDM referred City to a Sunday League outfit virtually every week. Looking forward to the 'wendy ball' reference next. Talk about ignorant deluded fools ? like the post saying Leeds and London have two RL clubs ?? Do they ?

Kingston Rovers started off in West Hull. FC started off in East Hull.
Just think, when talk is of the pitch and the problems of sharing a ground, that the council wanted Rovers to move to the KC as well. Which shows how clueless with a small town mentality they are.
There would have been 2 games virtually every weekend on the pitch if that had happened.

    Leeds has. Elland Road
The first owners of Elland Road were Holbeck Rugby League Club. The first competitive game there featured Hunslet. Hunslet are still on the go, so yes they do have 2 RL clubs. In fact, until the Sunderland Cup game there in 1967 the record crowd there was 54,000 for a Leeds RLFC v Hunslet game. The largest crowd for a RL game outside of Challenge Cup Finals. I always quote those things to Leeds fans who go on about us sharing with a rugby club (remember them sharing with Hunslet when the council had to bale them out?) and to rugby fans in Hull go on about how massive the local Derby, record crowd 27,000, is when City let them play it at BP to help the rugby clubs financially.

The Swansea pitch wasn’t actually replaced because of it being worn out either, it was primarily due to a disease that got into the grass and killed it.

It’s claimed that the problem with the KCOM is the direction of the pitch and the lack of sunlight that some parts get, though this doesn’t really explain why it’s much worse now than it used to be.

Have you ever been to Hunslets new ground ? It's not as big as Costello Stadium. In fact the last time I was there, for a speed awareness course no less, I drove past it three times without noticing it. To call them a professional RL club on the same level as Leeds Rhino's is like saying Hall Road Rangers are on par with Hull City.

Yes, but they do have 2 RL clubs in Leeds.
    They did.
