It really adds something when added at the end, I use it early in the cooking as well but it seems to then disappear into the sauce and I'm not sure it's worth it. I don't blend my own stuff I just buy good quality curry powder and GM.
Theres so many versions, depending on where you are but yes most use it at the end as a finishing spice.
Next time you make a Chilli Con Carne, apart from using cumin powder try a spoonful of GM just at the end. it really is like chalk n cheese.
