He's only 25 mate, halfway through his career. He's at least got another 5/6 years at top level if not more

Torres I said is coming back to his best which is better than Rooney.
Also Dzeko is playing in a worse team and rarely will get a full 90 minutes due to the choice of strikers at City, can score with either foot/head.
Van Persie is playing at a team who are under performing terribly, doesn't get the sort of service that Rooney gets and makes a lot of his goals for his self. Rooney in an average team is just another average player as seen at the World Cup.

Compared to the top european dogs, our defence and midfield are slacking. Goalkeeper and strikeforce are ok. Never going to win Euro2012, or even get to the semis.

Are you saying Berbatov is better than Rooney. Dzeko has scored 4 goals in one game, whereas Rooney as spread out his goals, and he has scored more in the same number of games.

You are defo being anti-english. I have posted facts about goals and assists and you are counter-acting with points like 'he's coming back to his best' and 'playing for a worse team' <doh>

Last season was Rooney's 'worst' season, and he seemed to do relatively well.

I am talking about the present, about which striker I would prefer NOW. If it was last season, I would prefer Van Persie, with that record of something like scoring in 8 consecutive away games in the PL.

    But we're talking about now.

Rooney has 156 goals and 82 assists in 330 games for Manchester United. Pretty damn good I say

Messi, Cronaldo, Aguero, Villa, Neymar off the top of my head are better then Rooney.

Which world class players? I can only think of Rooney (never for England mind) and maybe Ashley Cole.

We could combine Fergusen, Mourinho, Guardiola and Del Bosque together and we still wouldn't do well in the Finals of a major competition, the players aren't good enough.

Messi and Ronaldo are better than Rooney, but wouldn't class them as strikers. All of the rest mentioned aren't better than Rooney, they are either just as good or worse than Rooney.

As for world class. Rooney, Cole, Terry. Gerrard, Lampard, Ferdinand we will have to see if they get back to their best and Wilshere, Sturridge, Jones, Smalling have the potential to be

Matter of opinion, but would say they were just level with Rooney - not any better

Thats the key thing. They wont. Theyre past it, yet unlike other nations such as Germany who move on from the old players, we stick with them. They should make way for the youngsters, they couldnt do the business in their prime so why would they now?
