Poor sad Lefties keep trotting out that old rubbish. Since the NHS was founded – an idea stolen from the Tories – the Labour Party has only been in government for 27 of the 73 years. That is plenty of time for the Tories to have broken it up and sold it off to private health care providers but that has not happened because it is a sad Leftie narrative. If the NHS is only safe under Labour, then how come the masses did not flock to vote for the lifetime loser Jeremy Corbyn and his Marxist friends? Labour is the Party of the few – the sad Lefties desperate for a Nanny State to run their lives for them.
The idea of the NHS originated with the Liberals, certainly not the Tories. Get it right. Harold MacMillan was committed to the NHS. He was that rare thing among Tory PMs, a One Nation Conservative. Heath probably was too, but these are the exceptions. The electorate gave this bunch of shysters a majority because they promised to deliver on Brexit. A catastrophic act of self harm imo, but at the last GE, the British people punished the parties that opposed the outcome of the referendum. We’ll all pay for that, though most of those who voted Leave will be dead soon so they’ll suffer less than most.
Just remind us when the Liberals put a paper before Parliament about founding a national health service? I can remind you about the one that Conservative Health Minister Henry Willink put before Parliament in February 1944 entitled “A National Health Service”. Nye Bevan took large parts of it but in his desperation to nationalise all private health care he created an organisation that has become increasingly dysfunctional. Is it not strange that the NHS model of health care is allegedly revered everywhere yet no other country has followed that model? And all those other countries seem to have much better health care systems. The ‘bunch of shysters’ did at least keep to their commitment and Socialist Sunak has been spending money like Marxist McDonnell promised, so the losing ‘bunch of shysters’ are even getting what hardly anyone wanted – a massive public debt to pay off.
