Sorry for the diatribe, but I'd be interested in where your perspective is coming from.

I assume from your id name you either are living or have lived over there in the Balkans? Maybe your family/parent(s) originate from the Balkans, hence you have some insight into the recent history of the Balkans. Maybe have served in the peacekeeping military effort? I'm only guessing obviously. All I know is that a hell of a lot of **** has happened over the last 30-40 years in certain Balkan countries - I have quite a few Serbian, Croatian and Montenegrin friends I've played football with, had many beers with. Over here in Canada, they get on superbly well. So do their kids.

Your comment about the youth compared with older generations can only be due to (IMO) poor parental example/education/control or incredibly lax federal or provincial government control. That would include availability of jobs or other opportunities as a result of lack of funds (tax revenues from all sources) because of mis-management by the powers that be. Older generations in those situations ( countries) who were supressed didn't have much chance of protesting and generating positive change. The youth in these situations may well be trying to highlight their frustrations - unemployment, lack of future prospects - by the wrong methods. They may have few alternatives to build a future for themselves.

You may be right. That would be sad for everyone's future obviously. Wherever it is.

The angle i am coming from is disputing the suggestion that the young generation are more tolerant. Travelled a lot in Europe and almost never came accross any animosity and stories like castos dad told, although second hand it comes across as the war ended everyone went home and got on with life.

Through work i ended up in lots of worn torn places and even though the actual war finished 30 years ago **** is still happening.

On my phone right now so hard to do a fuller reply.
