All the other teams, like Peterborough and Hull, would've been convincing themselves we wouldn't be up for this after Wembley ... ...... errrr
Chuckled at this off ‘Sunderlad’ on Facey earlier. ‘pictures from North East teams last Wembley wins’
you know what lads, i am quite happy to go the rest of the season without a stream as i know i will get a good report about the players from most of you (obvious exceptions, of course) and i sort of called this one in a 'round - a - bout not entirely accurate way' with the debut goal when wright returns i know he should partner dion at the back but really don't want to 'lose' onien but i also think if one player needs and deserves break it is him...pulling away from the pack and closing in on that top spot who would have called that just a few short weeks ago?
What we do need to keep a grip on, yeah, we could steamroll the league and piss it, but let’s just remember we could easily slip up against some of the better sides we’ve still got to play. I don’t see it, but after last few years I wanna stop short of thinking we’ve made it until it’s done. Its hard to keep a lid on it right now, but I’m trying.
Automatic promotion would be a hell of an achievement after the start we gave the rest of the league but I feel it in my bones that we are going to do it. It just shows the impact Johnson's philosophy has had on this group of players and his ability to change a game with substitutions. Long may it continue
I felt a defeat in my gut... this was very un-sunderlandlike, going off and winning a must win game on the back of a game that had many emotions. When things like that happen, it bodes well
It reminds me a lot of when Keane took over, but if he was actually a genius manager not just a legend of the game and a scary bloke who the players ran through walls for...until they didn't. The effect has been very similar but Johnson is achieving it in a much more sustainable way.
Stopped watching that part way through, what a miserable Scouse loser he is, if his team had taken their chances they win the game, well duck me Einstien couldn't have put it better. Why can't some managers just be gracious in defeat.
to be fair one of his ex players committed suicide today and he’s just lost a game of football. He’s done an amazing job at Accrington - twice now!
Very good point mate. We didn't need an 'impact manager', we needed a long term slogger who can accept other influences within the club. Keane, Allardyce, etc, might get you to the Championship but there's never any long term cohesive planning which is exactly what we need.
I kinda agree with him to be fair. He not saying we were lucky or anything, just that we took our chances and they didn’t. 12 months ago we wouldn’t have either and it would have been 0-0!!!
That's why I posted it, "we have to find a way to win" how many times can you say that in an interview. He must only see the chances they had, what about O'Nien's header, probably the easiest chance of the lot
Its a hard one that. Self preservation says don't get carried away but this just feels like a different Sunderland.
Oh aye mate. I’m not being defeatist here, absolute opposite. I firmly believe we are flying, it’s for real, and we are gonna do it. I just want to hold something back given the kicks in the busters we’ve had last 5 years The atmosphere first game we allowed back. **** me I can feel it already.
We may not clinch anything for months ... ... why deny yourself the joy of anticipation, excitement and the joy of winning? Sod that, I loved winning tonight and can't wait for Lincoln. Whether you're cautious or not failing hurts just the same ... ... so why miss out now?
