It's impressive, but its not over a long enough period. Utd dominated 13 out of 20, I think its a case of longevity as well as amount of trophies. Same with Chelsea, they won alot but never managed to sustain it.
There were clear undisputed periods of domination. Liverpool had one in the 70s and 80s. We were winning not only titles but domestic and European cups Then with the inception of the premiership it has been clearly Man United up to the retirement of Ferguson. In each of these periods there would of course be interruptions by other clubs coming up with great teams. During MU’s period there were Wenger’s Arsenal and then Mourinho’s Chelsea and his successors. These teams had a few great years but Ferguson’s United were always there as challengers if not winners of trophies. Few could dispute that we are living in a period of City domination. Interrupted by Leicester and Liverpool. Their domination of domestic trophies proves the point. For anyone to win anything in England they have to go past City first. Their next step is surely European domination. I agree that those who thought we were going to dominate after last season were over optimistic. It was never on the cards.
I personally think we are moving from a period of one state sponsored club to another. In England thus far a few teams can win the odd trophy but I think it will change where the state clubs will win most everything. It's not like 2 or 3 or 4 clubs have not won nearly every trophy anyway but the change imo will be run away state funded club dominance. It could last a lot longer. The only thing holding the dam right ow is tv money rules. I think lfc are mad to try break that 14 club rule that holds the whole thing together. If city could dictate the tv money the league will fall apart.
Anyway on more laughable matters. Agent ole says trophies are only an ego trip. He says the league position should show progress. I seem to recall Mourinho boasting about being second while being.miles behind city as well and he got the sack as well. The last bastion of the worried man seems to be comfort in being miles behind city but marginally better off than other sides in one campaign. It's amazing how fast the debacle of the cl was forgotten. Down an away goal tonight and in italy. Saying trophies is only an ego trip seems unwise. #prayforole.
English teams doing their best to cockup winning the EL. Spurs out, Man U needing to score, Arsenal scraping through
3-1 down on agg. Needs 3 goals to go through and down to 9 men. Not sure rangers going through lol. Be better comeback than Istanbul if they manage it from here!
Think winning the title will have taken the edge off some of their hunger Tbf It is wrong but it is likely
Nah. With title won almost should be fully focussed on the Europa. Just think opposition are good team. They knocked Leicester out last round.
Just shows the level Rangers are at imo. Stevie has done a great job with them, but they are what they are.
It's a decent performance for rangers to get that far but they were on a hiding if they went on. Spurs are hilarious and it couldn't happen to a nastier that in mourinho. Utd progressing is great as it keeps the games in the legs and ole in a job. And obviously arsenal are arsenal and I've no grudge for arteta, actually hope they win it to pad his cv more
