I love the fact that attitudes amongst fans the staff and the players have changed so much over the last few weeks, the name of this thread now kind of says it all TAKEOVER AND THE FUTURE. It is great to hear everybody being positive and looking to the future we are not just talking about the here and now but planning to take steps forward again after so long. There seems to be a vision of where we should be and a ambition to get there with strategic thinking and progressive planning. I am excited to see where we go in the next 4/5 years because the last few years have been painful for everybody.

Great post mate, really sums it up.

I've noticed a change, even in the lads I know who are generally enthusiastic long term supporters.

We no longer have to feel slightly daft and 'rose tinted' when we're talking about the club.

The persistent doom mongers no longer feel like they have the upper hand to mock anyone showing any signs of optimism ....

... they've gone unusually quiet because they know there's been a massive shift in our fortunes.

Even the Mags attempts to pull down KLD or the EFL Cup win are half hearted and lame, they know this could be a great time for us.

There's a contagious quiet joy about people even if they're reluctant, after all these years, to let their guard down.

You're right mate, we do have a future now and it feels great.

How many times down the years have we all heard fans of struggling clubs say "I would rather we got relegated so that we can get rid of all of the deadwood and rebuild and start again afresh" ??

I genuinely think that in years to come there is a good chance that statement will now be followed by "look at Sunderland, look what they did and look at them now" !!!

    Exactly mate.

I've used Southampton, Wolves and Leicester as lifebelts to keep me from going under.

They were all in administration, gates being locked or in danger of going under ...

.... as you say it would be great for clubs like Sheff Wed or Portsmouth to be using SAFC as a life saver.

The future does look a lot lot brighter but don’t let us get ahead of ourselves we still have a lot of work ahead of us starting with Accrington on Wednesday and maintaining our biggest target by achieving promotion to the Championship. We cannot take our foot off the gas as we have so many games to play but as I said in an earlier post that is where our large squad will or should justify itself as all clubs will pick up injuries and suspensions . Excellent start for KLD and LJ as well as the rest of the new management team next part of the trick is improving on what we have already achieved .

Agree with all of that mate.

The big change is that we all believe there's a real structure and long term planning.

Even if we lose the odd game we know the whole thing won't fall apart as has previously happened.

There's a cold determination in the players and manager that money can't buy.

I renewed as we were going into leauge one under Short. Had stuff said to me like "Daft you", "f##k that","I'm not watching that ****e". Reason I'm mentioning it is because the same people that said the above to me are wanting season tickets again. It's amazing what some positively can bring to fans and a club.

I never criticise people's choice to stop going ...

... it does wind me up when they try to rope you in though.

same mate, people can do what they like with their money. and like you say, why try and rope others in that want to continue to go.I remember when it was cool to not go even though the money had been paid.

I know the trophy is not a gigh value trophy and I was more interested than excited by the wembly final but somebody said to me " look when we win it will go down as the first trophy of our new era" I think I was more excited about that than anything else

We stopped going after they told my (then) 89 year old dad to leave the stadium. Still support the team but not the club

That's terrible . What was he doing , toting his Kalashnikov on the concourse? 89 man. Surely some sense could be used.

He was sat in his folding wheelchair up against the concourse wall watching the early kick off on the tv. Blue coated steward said he was causing an obstruction and had to move. Argued the case but he wouldn’t budge so after seeing his first game in 1936 that was my dad and the family finished with the club

You should make the new regime aware of this and give them the opportunity to make amends. They can’t be held responsible for the actions of others, and it would be a shame for the family to miss out on any potential rebirth.

emailed the last regime about it, as this happened under Mr Shorts reign, but never even got a reply. be over the moon if things go well from now, but i'll just be an armchair supporter as i have since this happened.
