New contract, Manager Of The Month, so nearly beaten by Huddersfield, out classed by Watford, a yawning reaction by MM post match, how did it alll go wrong? Not enough games left to put it right, but let’s enjoy the games left, starting against a Stoke side named after a red striped beer possibly! I have it on good authority that Garth Crookes (named after a Daily Mirror comic strip from back in the day, ask Clingon...no offence) is not playing in the clash of the giants of the division! Masky wouldn’t be surprised to see us lose this one as the bubble has burst, and the turd that once had been polished has now been pricked with a massive hmmmmm.....but let’s hope for another 4-0 With Ivanhoeeeeeeeee getting all four eh.......who’s with me.....anyone.....William5552? Williams french Accordion up for grabs!
Hurts doesn’t it pal, when they insert an “e” in Masky, it’s like Superman has fallen upon Kryptonite or Bitcoin? I share your pain Billy’o! MM’s unbeaten record for sale, CD or vinyl!
Graham Scott the man in the middle. Mixes PL and Championship. Done some City games in the past - even a PL win v WHU
Masky has a dilemma, needs help from you oldies with tonnes of experience in these matters, thus: Masky has been called up to receive his Pfizer jab on Saturday afternoon late, he would normally buy a match pass and be disappointed as they will probably lose badly and consider himself shafted once again! So, does Masky get pricked, or get shafted? Anyone. BFB/BT....anyone? Clingon (no offence pal?)
Old Sparkey, don’t be rude pal! Perhaps I can turn to you for advice old wise one? Masky has read that it is okay to get one’s haircut, as the barber will approach one from behind and work from there masked up. Do you think it right for a man to approach one from the rear with a chopper? Taxi for one!
Get pricked....then you can be around to get shafted later. Seriously., the vaccine decision is just another form of Darwinism at work.
Back to football for a change. I know we have discussed the merits of WoL's reporting on City before but to me there now seems to be a virtual embargo on news released by the club. It is 5 1/2 hours to tonight's kick off but the WoL article today tells us nothing more than the bleedin' obvious. No mention of Nelson's injury from Saturday - if he hadn't gone off then the circumstances leading to that free kick would not have happened- or news on Bagan's shoulder injury. He was seeing a consultant last Friday. No news on any possible changes for tonight. Harris and Warnock used to do a press conference a day or two before the game but MM seems to keep his cards much closer to his chest. Not a bad thing I suppose but no good for us fans who want the current news. Another gripe about BBC Live Scores. Team sheets are handed in no later than an hour before kick off and BBC Live Scores used to post them within 5 or 10 minutes. It now takes half an hour at least. Sheer lazy journalism.
Bit deep for me that Furter. I get the natural selection theory, but what species do you think Masky evolved from?
Think tonight is definitely a "must win" if we are to retain any hope of usurping any of the current top 6 or 7. Be interesting to see if Mick will freshen things up after our first taste of defeat under his stewardship. Personally I'd look at dropping Ralls in favour of either Pack (never thought I'd say that) to get some semblance of ball retention and incisive passing or Bacuna for his industry and ball carrying ability. I'd keep Vaulks in for his long throws, tenacity and ability to hit the ball from distance. I'd also again toy with the idea of Hoilett rather than Brown at left back as I think we need to go at Stoke rather than sitting tight.
An alternative to dropping Ralls (which I agree with) would be to play him at left wing back instead of Brown - he's played there before and knows what to do with that left foot of his out wide - apart from kicking people that is. Bacuna should start rather than Pack who could be kept to come on to close things down later if necessary. Agree with stepping on to Stoke rather than letting them dictate, but don't necessarily want the majority of possession that that would seem to suggest. Pressing high when you haven't got the ball can be tiring but the 5 subs should be used to replace tired legs - and not in the last 5 minutes either. Stoke are no great shakes to be afraid of - go for it from the off and let them worry about it rather than sitting back waiting for a mistake from them - most mistakes are made when you force it upon the opposition.
Not sure about Hoilett at lb. I always prefer full backs playing on the side of their preferred foot. They are less likely to get done on the outside. That is what happened with Ng on Saturday. Their wide player got in front of him and got tripped. Hoilett will offer a lot more going forward but we need to be solid at the back. Anyway, as far as I know, we don't know if Nelson is fit - unless that has been mentioned since I last looked. If he is not fit then Brown goes to cb. In that instance does Ng go to lb again or perhaps Hoilett comes in? I thought Sang did well when he played on Saturday and got forward as much as Ng. Over to you MM.
Just seen Sparks' post. Ralls has played lb before and, up to a point, did well in that position. That is an option and then Trigger or Bacuna in mf.
