please log in to view this image Do I care. No. I was gutted nobody could go. We’d have partied all night in Covent Garden and Trafalgar Square regardless of the trophy. And, if I could have gone to Wembley to watch “just the pizza cup” with me dad and see us win “just the pizza cup” I wouldn’t have given a shiny **** what trophy it was that I’d jumped up and down hugging him in celebration.
I have read a bit across the road and the mood hoovers are out. Your post sums up what we should be feeling
It does, we have all done the trip to Wembley many times, hope in our hearts and come away gutted. I’m sure we have all lost people who have been through the same journey, many times. To win today was brilliant but, if you can’t reflect and think about those who made the journey and who weren’t here today to see it. X
Problem is with those on RTG the majority don't even go to the home games so they wouldn't understand what a Wembley weekend is all about mate
There was a lad on there who said that he cried, and the usuals told him to grow up, a mag said that they could smell gravy etc. Yes, we shouldn’t be in this league to win it, but we are where we are and we’ve won at Wembley for the first time in 48 years.
Dad took my older brother in ‘73 instead of me. We went in ‘92. Had season tickets for years, travelled all over. He’s now 87 & has dementia. Today my Mother’s day was perfect. Picked up Sunday dinners from pub, ate them with dad while watching 1st half on ipad at his. Second half, on sofa. Ok,he was a bit confused, but, we won & we both had a great day. I don’t care what cup it was, I got to see us win at Wembley with my dad by my side.
Every time I have a peek on RTG (and its seldom, prob 6/7 weeks ago now) I feel the need to sanitize my hands.
Absolutely with you there. And any club who says different is lying to themselves. I just wish I could’ve at least watched it with (and no doubt argued with) my parents!!
Am I pleased that we won at Wembley.. yep Hoodoo gone.... Do I want Sunderland to be eligible to play in this tinpot Cup next season.. no Still when all said and done a day out at Wembley plus some silverware... so it is good that we won it, but poor that we were in a position to do so. 13 games to go... all must wins and everyone a cup final..C'mon lads you can do it... no pizza hangover, Accrington away then Lincoln at home.
Given up on the place, it's fully of angry keyboard warrior virgins desperate to prove other posters wrong and claim they have them "rattled" etc Real shame as I've been on there since it was re-created in it's current guise just before the World Cup in 2002. Been a lot of good posters on there over the years, but most of them gone now due to the toxic nature of the place
cant even remember when i first joined up, but it turned into a 'read my thread, not his' fest...the amount of times i would read posts and someone would make a genuine point only for someone else to start a new thread almost repeating exactly what the poster had said rather than joining the discussion was like a pandemic...everyone wanting their own bit of glory for someone elses idea, of course, they got constant replies from the friends to keep it high on the list and would even resort to just a general 'hows it going' type convo. decided to have a quick look after the match on sunday, while this site had a couple of match related threads with people joining in the discussion, over there was about half a pages worth and without looking through them i can guarantee most were about already posted topics...and if you dare to pull them about it, they would gang up and give the complainer some right stick yet the '****-stirrers' and trouble makers were allowed to flourish as they were possibly the most regular users (scared in case they missed anything) and when that happens, it is on a downward spiral.
I don’t care what anyone says we were entered into it by the fact we play in league 1, for me I played every game cup and league to win. When I won I enjoyed it and I was only playing on **** pitches around the north east
