I was just checking the fixtures for the rest of the league just now and noticed Liverpool where playing United at home. My first and what has become an automatic thought was, 'this is a tough game for United, hope they drop points here' then it hit me like a brick on the back of the head, its not United that need to drops points here. Its them that need to win for us to get back into a race for 4th in October because what United do no longer matter for us. Those times are gone. We have to back Chelsea,United and City against Spurs and Liverpool. Because we are no longer a team in the top tier. We play games week in week out in different competitions and time moves so fast that sometimes you do not have the time to stop and think. Its that sudden realization of our situation which hits home. And that feeling is just awful. Our fall has been so fast that some people are still left in the dust of our collapse. And I have to be honest and say i have never really come to terms with where we are in the scheme of things. Maybe I just did not want to think about it because the reality was such a let down from where we used to be. What was this moment for the rest of you, the moment when it hit home of where we are as a club?
I think another brick will hit you, when you realize that actually it does not matter who will win this game.
It does. Like I said, if we are to make anything of this season then our only hope is that Liverpool and Spurs stay within our reach.
Don't forget Newcastle. I think they have a chance of 6th or 7th. Like Everton or Villa in past seasons.
i think it hit me as long ago as the 3rd round of the carling cup when you went 1 down to the shrews! it will get better, excuse the invasion..aj
