Did the old bill go into them like that? Or the Liverpool fans celebrating winning the title? From memory they were all gentle gentle ... May be wrong though
Virtually ALL social change came from confronting and breaking the law. From trade union rights to get the vote, getting common land to fair pay, ending slavery to stopping the workhouses. Without breaking the Law Aparthied eould be alive and kicking and segregation in the US would still be legal. So tbh I couldn't disagree more. Sometimes the law is bollocks and deserves to be broken.
Kier Starmer has just dropped a clanger, he condemn the policing of the PROTEST at Clapham Common....oh dear
Keir Starmer @Keir_Starmer The scenes in Clapham this evening are deeply disturbing. Women came together to mourn Sarah Everard - they should have been able to do so peacefully. I share their anger and upset at how this has been handled. This was not the way to police this protest. 9:06 pm · 13 Mar 2021
Not sure why condemning the policing of the protest is a clanger tbh. Not a dig ... just confused...as per tbh
Expecting a dozen pages of analysis in the Mail on Sunday anyway and Labour to lose three points in the polls.
Well if being a hero is the game then take it well when you get locked up. Why can't they just write a letter?
Name me any social change that came from writing a ****ing letter? Who said they wanted to be hero's? They want to feel safe on the streets and unfortunately that requires some kind of social change. Women have been abused verbally and physically in broad daylight when out walking and jogging. Some women feel unsafe. These are the kind of issues that have caused that to be the case.
I just don't see what they expect them to do.. They can't just tell all the psychos to stay home and behave. There's never going to be a day when people can feel safe and we shouldn't.. You should always have fear. Without fear you get yourself killed much easier.. Show me a species without fear and I'll show you an extinct species.
Since they were there because their team had won the league i would suggest celebration. It could easily have turned into a war if policed badly though. Our police keep order by consent, to do this they have to avoid violence where possible. Do you ever wonder why it takes four 15 stone guys to hold a teenage girl down or six to hold a scrawny crackhead down? The answer is it doesn't, they go to those lengths to stop people hurting themselves when struggling to avoid arrest.
