Those coppers won't like it if the big boys come out to play. I can see social media right now, winging a load of guys over to Clapham Common to kick some copper arse. Not right, but if cops want to beat the girls, it's going to kick off.
it was condemned by almost everyone though, and rightly so. i'm all ears as to opinions as to what any of you think this vigil/protests would achieve? In normal times, it would probably have been bigger, as this country loves a protest and is usually our right to do so. But i just don't see how we can bend the laws, just yet.
Did they beat them? I think they just locked them up... They'll give them a few mins to get over themselves then release them. It's actually a really quite a cleansing experience... I'm not saying there's no problem, but people these days need to realise they have to listen to the law and so what they say... I feel like young people think they're arguing with their parents when being told to tidy their rooms.. They realise they don't have any control for the 1st time in their lives and it's good for them.
What do vigils and protests ever achieve? They're about making a statement, not getting things done. A policeman appears to have abducted and murdered a woman. People are going to be upset about that. Having the police break up an event for people who are angry about it looks appalling and is utterly tone deaf. It's not ideal to do it right now, but it wasn't a large protest, so just leave it alone. Make an exception. Use some common sense.
Had you just done a shift mixing plaster all day in the photo I saw because you looked almost entirely grey.
I've got a lot more to say on this, but now is not the time. The killer has been caught, and will be dealt with, if he lives long enough. So i will step away from the thread.
Don't get me wrong I don't like the police they put me in a cell once that didnt even have those blue mats you get , left my cuffs on and then 3 of them came in and beat the **** out of me , but I learned to just nod my head after that and do what they say and they'd be fine. Days long gone, but I'm sure they're no different now.
Sadiq Khan @SadiqKhan The scenes from Clapham Common are unacceptable. The police have a responsibility to enforce Covid laws but from images I've seen it's clear the response was at times neither appropriate nor proportionate. I'm contact with the Commissioner & urgently seeking an explanation. 9:51 pm · 13 Mar 2021 (Genuine account, I checked)
Priti Patel @pritipatel Some of the footage circulating online from the vigil in Clapham is upsetting. I have asked the Metropolitan Police for a full report on what happened. My thoughts remain with Sarah’s family and friends at this terrible time. 9:55 PM · Mar 13, 2021
