The bit about curfews was utterly ridiculous, but yeah agree with why women are concerned. I think what the woman completely missed in The Lords, was it was a copper that commited this crime, he would never have been subjected to any curfew. Yet, she wants to tar all men with the same brush. If people want a sensible debate, I'd say let's have one, and that has to be between both women and men - not as I saw on SKY yesterday, a discussion solely between FOUR invited women and a female presenter. Edit: I forgot to add we are also currently under the toughest totalitarian measures ever seen in the UK.
I think that peer's intentions were good and she was trying to make a point to create a discussion, but she was totally tone deaf to how her comments would be received and used. While they have created discussion, they have also given ammo to people who want to dismiss the discussion as being about men v women rather than decent people v ****s.

Yup and it certainly created that discussion, and I'd be highlighting the following points to her in the Lords. 1. We are already under strict covid conditions, so short of topping every man living, I'm not sure how much stricter the rules can be. 2. Aligned with the above, no nightlife, pubs or restaurants are open for men to even go out. 3. The kidnap and murder was commited by a COP, so no regulations, rules, law, would have prevented the sad and sick events to follow. 4. I've heard about men crossing the road to make women feel safe at night - I agee, but again this was a cop who was driving a car. 5. The police force failed the woman (ok predominanatly men I accept), we still need to understand what Met Police did in regards to two complaints of indecent exposure. If you want to talk to me about domestic violence, I'd be more than happy to engage that discussion, but let's make it about that, not a crime committed by an individual who would have gone through some of the strictest training possible to be a firearms protection officer. Although how this leads to him kidnapping and killing a woman is out of the scope of my understanding or imagination, to just say 'male' I'd think I'd want to look a lot deeper than that. We'll have to wait until the trial for those many questions, to seek some answers. Let me finish by saying Domestic Violence needs to be tackled, let's bring it to the forefront, but how that fits with this crime is still to be seen, as I've not seen any reference yet, in regards to violence towards his partner who was also arrested (now bailed).
Nope. The more thought that is applied to what the woman suggested in the Lords, whether the curfew be male or female, the more it falls apart. My understanding is the whole problem with domestic violence, especially during covid restrictions is that women are forced into lockdown with their abusers. So applying curfews actually makes the situation worse.
Probably set her party back 10 years with that comment. I reckon behind the scenes, The Green Party are pretty pissed off with all this. Regardless of her intentions, the headline is the one people see.

Shame we can't see these same coppers treading the beat on the streets late at night, instead of in their cars. Maybe then women would feel safer. Funny how we can find the resource when they need to but for all the wrong reasons.
