I know that MI5s infiltration of the IRA was thought to be the most successful operation of it's kind.
MI5's main problem was how to avoid the numerous informants being found out due to the large number of operations they knew about.

Of course Mi5 infiltration caused damage, especially in Belfast which was riddled with touts tbh. It was the South Armagh Brigade who done the stock exchange Manchester and other places to cause maximum financial damage. Know how much the bomb cost to cause the billion pound worth of damage? 600 od quid.

Once that was realised the party was over.

Do the Aussies have a public paid broadcaster like the loathsome BBC?

If I walked into your local and shouted “**** the Pope”, would there be consequences?

Aye I got that but you and me both you would deserve the forthcoming hiding.

But seriously would I walking down the shankill with a Celtic top on not be provocative clothing?

I can't speak for his local, but from my own experiences of pubs in Ireland, I reckon the answer is 'it depends', as I have seen pretty much that done in City Centre pubs, with banter dished back as a reaction. That's largely because it was done as part of an exchange.

If you just wandered in and started shouting it to try and look clever, then you'd most likely find the reaction is based on being a prick rather than the comment.

I'm not sure why so many of your expected reactions relate to violence though. It seems to speak of some underlying issues of your own.

Would that be any more provocative than walking down Tottenham High Road in an Arsenal shirt? Or going in a pub in Portsmouth wearing a Saints shirt? Given the non football associations of Celtic and Rangers, I suppose it would.

Some people go looking for trouble, I don't see the point myself. I prefer a quiet life. You should be able to wear your team's shirt anywhere really. But there's stuff you just don't do.
