He's a copper. He probably did his best to destroy the evidence based on his knowledge of what forensics is capable of. The fact he as a copper genuinely thought he could get away with it with forensics these days shows he's thick as pig ****.

His wife has a degree in biochemistry and works as a laboratory manager. Might explain the assisting charge if she supplied him with something to make it more difficult to identify his victim.
I thought she had been released, due to return to a police station in mid April (I think) - I doubt they would let her go if they felt she played any part in it, or more should I say I'd be surprised if they let her go. Although doubt she can go home, so not sure what happens, whether she goes to relatives or even if she is under police protection.
