I suppose they're hoping some deus ex machina will save them. They're 12 points adrift with 30 to play for, so it's technically feasible. Not very likely though.
morons. I can tell you I was talking to an absolute rabid Sheff utd fan who was a massive wilder fan. A season ticket holder etc. you know the type that will correct you if you dare say utd when referring to man utd as Sheff utd are the bestest club ever. This lot were nowhere prior to wilder. absolutely nowhere and they improved year on year on year. So they've had a **** time, wo what? he made a huge error buying brewster but to sack the guy now is pointless except to rebuild for next year. It accepts relegation as the players were still trying for the guy. nobody is going to get more out of that set of crap. I would expect from there that they will fade out and then next year a radical change is required. Not having fans in and having injuries to his key players didn't help but he seems just as stuubron as klopp and stuck with 3 CBs etc.
Maybe he asked for money in january or maybe he feels the club won't buy anyone in the summer. Who knows. irrespective they have made the call and will live or die by it. I suppose we all said some clubs were nuts to sack managers and ingrates and all of that a few times before. I recall someone other club did this to a new promoted manager and it was widely said to be crazy etc but the results spoke for themsevles. I can't recall which club did it?
Wilder made Sheff United to where they were and now they get rid of him because he's underachieving against the high standards that HE set. With that said, apparently the club wanted to bring in a DOF which Wilder was against.
whatever reasons were advanced, sooner or later Wilder was going to lose his job. Bottom line , the results were awful and the owners were never going to be happy. Things needed to change. No surprise there. For me it was the GK. Ramsdale is not the worst keeper around but he is not as good as the previous one. When they were winning matches last season, it was through 1 goal and clean sheets. Once they started conceding easy goals, they were in trouble.
In the end if he is on a power trip then he has to go and nobody is bigger than any club. Yes the results are dire and yes he is abrasive but in the end hes Allardyce or pulis or dyche mark iv. These guys all have differing styles but they all come up through the hard knocks school of lower leagues and don't really get to manage egos No board should be worried their manager is talking down that value of their players. First no manager should be insulting his own squad but second any club more interested in resale value will have success long term (PSG take note) The fans loved him on the way up and still backed him for the championship. The players were still playing for him so I don't know who they think they will get. I imagine they are caught on the hop here and don't really have a ready to go offer. Imo it was the loss of both Henderson and a couple cbs on injured that did for them. Yes they combined not scoring and conceding so 20th is deserved. When a CB in a 3 is your playmaker it says it all
2-0 now plus could have had a pen and hit post ! Even more surprising is they are playing some lovely stuff .
You could do worse, you could refer to them as Sheffield, as the guys on Sky kept doing. I know they got alot of **** for that. As they will tell you, there is more than one club in Sheffield and the only one that gets to use the name is the really old one, Sheffield FC.
Jesus tonight, have the ****e got Jon Moss on loan from Uniturd or something? How the **** was that not a pen by Holgate?
Yes, a few crumbs of comfort. There is enough games to still have some ambition, but beating Wolves is a must.
Decent for us today but I think top 4 is out of reach for us now, we're too inconsistent, too far behind Chelsea and fast running out of road
Am I allowed write off Everton without criticism yet? As I said before they are improved and looking better than last year but not top 4. Anyway chelsea draw was poor. Not sure we can take advantage though
I've avoided the league table for a few weeks, after today's result I thought I'll take a peak and see where we are. God its depressing.
