Nervously optimistic about this game. I'm going for a 1-0 with Wyke (who else) to bag the goal.

I'd prefer O'Brien to start as Wyke is better when he's there. But we have Gooch, Stewart, Diamond, etc so we can't complain too much.

If the players do their jobs which I think they will, it’ll be 4-1 to The Lads in Red n White!!

Not good news about Jones but still confident we will cope. I'm going for a 3-1 win

I think Johnson will just shrug it off and talk about the available players ...

... who knows, perhaps Maguire will step up.

Great to come on and see this thread - top work as ever RTB.

Been looking forward to this game since the semi. Cant wait.

Shame about Jones but lets concentrate on the players we have. Our squad is as good as it gets. For this game at least it would be nice for the lads who have got us here to be the ones to start the game. I reckon this will mean loads to the likes of Gooch for example.

Assuming Wright is available and Jones is out, I'd go...
    Burge
    Younger Wright Flanagan MacFadzean
    Scowan O,Nien Power
    Diamond Wyke McGeady

Matthews, Almond, Macguire, Hawkes, O'Brien, Gooch, Stewart (hopefully)

Let’s get this won and in 50 years time we can claim that it was the forerunner to the European Super League of Champions <laugh>

Those lot up the road tried something like that with the Intercity Fairs Cup <laugh>

Gutted about this mind. While the players mentioned can do a decent job, imo Jones is next level.

Another great thread RTB, its going to seem like a long wait to kick-off, and the news about Jones is not good, but we have enough in our locker to see this one through. I don't expect the opposition just to turn up and roll over either, so we need every player to turn up and give their best, just as they did against Pompey. If they do, we will have laid two ghosts in one week, what could be better.
To anybody who has not seen this already, take a look - its fan-tastic
