Reading through this thread and wiping the blood from my eyes reading certain posts, mainly from those who toss the 'snowflake' word around and think that the colour of a persons skin matters when it comes to their employment or social standing. Piers Morgan is the epitome of the emboldened and privileged white man. Hiding behind the 'free speech' banner to pursue various culture wars that deep down they know are almost worthless and generally fought by one side, but are vigorously fought to the bitter end in some misguided attempt to 'own the Libs'. They insist that anyone not on their level is perma-offended, but the minute there's any kind of perceived threat to their blinkered worldview they bash their keyboards into oblivion and give themselves an aneurysm. For me, the worst thing he's done in all of this isn't the storming off or the unhealthy obsession. It's the fact he's standing by his view that Meghan Markle is lying about having suicidal thoughts. How does he know? How does anyone know? In an age where we've been fighting to get people to speak out and open up about mental health, how does this help? That alone should have seen him removed from any form of media work for good. Worth bearing in mind when he's inevitably re-employed. Truly the actions of a complete ****.
Tad harsh. I quite like him, especially his riveting column in the Mail on Sunday when he tells us all how many famous mates he has, who has tweeted him, who he saw in The Ivy, who thinks he's the most hansom man on the telly and the latest on his love affair with Simon Cowell. Surprised he has yet to write about how many people recognised him, how many names he could drop and how fabulous his five star celebrity hotel was when he ****ed off for a fortnight to the Caribbean over Christmas when the rest of the country was in lockdown. Kept stum on that one.
I don’t have Twitter anymore but I remember seeing something on my feed where someone took the piss out of Gervais’ comedy style (didn’t tag his @, just typed his name). Gervais then blocked them but also screenshotted the person’s tweets and made a sarky comment about them being a snowflake. Other people replied to the tweet showing their own similar spats with Gervais. If I remember correctly, it was due to people taking the piss out of Gervais for using the tedious and overused ‘attack helicopter’ type jokes about trans people. I think if you go on Twitter and just search ‘Ricky Gervais are you offended’, something might come up.
I only asked, as I followed him for years without seeing him do anything like that. I think this was one of his most accurate Twitter quotes... please log in to view this image
I know He was excited as **** that he’d managed to involve me in a Twittering conversation. Didn’t even have to take me to the Ivy or to the Caribbean, but couldn’t stop going on about it.
