  1. The Leyton Orient chairman seems to be hogging all the credit for the climb-down. I don't recall them being involved much in the appeal, I must say. I thought it was mainly us?

We got most of the publicity HIAG, but you have to question how much the press had to do with that.
Pitching us against West Ham in a legal battle is better for the media than if it were Orient in our place.

That arrangement seemed more beneficial to Newham Council than West Ham, for the simple reason that they only took on 50% of the risk of West Ham going tits up instead of footing every last penny of the bill should that happen.

Given it was Newham Council that backed out (as implied by Government Milk Monitor Hugh Robertson), even owning half the risk suddenly didn't seem to be beneficial to them - which still leaves the question about their "loan" to the LSP, and how much they people of Newham'll see of it ever again.

They also promised to deliver the Olympics for a budget of £3bn...

Everything about your two bob club riles me, from your vile singing about Auchswitz and your hissing noises to your Del Boy cardboard castles <ok>

I remember Alf vividly NSIS, used to watch the programmes in black and white. Not only that I saw Warren Mitchell at Spurs, as he was a Spurs fan, and was massively cheered when introduced to the crowd <ok>

Excellent point HB, this keeps West Ham at 'arm's length' from any ownership of the stadium.

AS i say as long as the track stays, and West ham don't get too 'sweet' a deal from the Govt, they can have it AFAIC. But the 'devil will doubtless be in the detail'.

    Really?

I don't think so, although I know what you're getting at...it is owned buy the Chelsea Pitch Owners, who are fans of the club who put their hands in their pockets to prevent another near disaster and the stadium being sold from under their feet...no money is made by them, or at least I am not aware that they do<ok>

Ok, i stand corrected. I assumed that as they didn't own the stadium that they must at least pay rent. Cheap bastards

    Or do i stand corrected:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chelsea_Pitch_Owners
Says chelsea pay a peppercorn rent.

I read about this, so let me get this right. The CPO own the pitch, and as you say make no current profit. However, that 'land' is prime W. London land. Roman is intending to move, and sell Stamford Bridge for development...at todays market price. Yet he wants to pay CPO members what they paid for it all those years ago! <yikes>. In summary, he wants to pay for land at yesteryear prices and sell it for profit only to himself. I hope the CPO tell him what to do!

Btw...all this moving around, are you the new Gooner/Nomads? :D

Perhaps Arsenal could move into it then, as it wouldn't be a problem for them.

He doesn't sound too bitter does he <doh>

As CE says, it's just a bit of fun, get a grip, clearly you have a bit of a problem, just because you have been Arsenal's bitch no need to take it out on us <ok>

Well always thought the track would stay, well at least for the next 5-10 years anyway, it's your lot that can't get your head round that bit. It also means you certainly won't be bidding on it and you may have done yourself no favours with Boris' 17 million bung/sweetner.

I think Ensil has pretty much answered the questions about Citeh renting but here is an article on it.

We don't agree on much, if anything but I have you right here. Now the long term lease with the benefits of making key decisions on the conversion have gone, unless something is agreed behind the scene's with WHU (should we bid and win) then I think we could see an increase in noise from the WHU fans about the move. Everyone could understand the benefits of getting a new stadium with the right modifications for 100 million with very little debt being taken on by the club, but now that has probably changed.

It's being rumoured that should we bid and lose, there is a Plan "B" but that doesn't include redeveloping the East Stand at UP to bring us to about 45,000 and for which planning permission has been gained once already.

...as you can see, the thread has moved on to something far more interesting than Spammer crap. Although mildly amusing, (anything to do with W.Ham usually is! :D), it doesn't hold our attention for too long.

As far as the who pays what and who owns what etc etc.Who cares? The main point is the Spammers can't fill the khazi they frequent at the moment. They spend a significant amount of their time in the Championship and they lack the financial clout to change any of this. A 60,000 seater stadium? Vanity bordering on insanity. The great Olympic giveaway is here, (in more ways than one.)

    Seriously pal, take a pill.

You have any matchday idiots at your club? I think we know the answer to that, because all clubs do.

You must admit though, Bobby, Geoff and Martin were good that day <ok>

"But at the Boleyn Ground you're up close to the action but the Olympic Stadium is oval-shaped and the distance from the track to the nearest seat is 35m."

Why lets ignorance get in the way of facts? Average home attendances

    10/11 33404
    09/10 33683
    08/09 33700
    07/08 34601
    06/07 34719
    05/06 33742
    04/05 27403 - 2nd Tier
    03/04 31167 - 2nd Tier
    02/03 34432
    01/02 31570

The official capacity is 35,500 but ovbiously we know there are certain games/times where that will never be met for security reasons. Who else is getting 33,000 in the Championship, the other week we had the 4th biggest crowd in England. Who gets 20,000 at home to struggling 4th tier team while in the 2nd tier? There has been very little to celebrate in the last 5 years yet still the fans turn out.

We have been relegated to the 2nd tier of English football SIX times and have spent 9 seasons out of the last 53 in the 2nd tier.

If we were not going to fill the OS, or even get close (I personally think we would have hit between 45-50,000 most home games if in the PL) then why was it such a threat to Spurs? Cheap tickets would be the order of the day, we have already proved we can shift 5,000 tickets for a Championship game fairly easy when done at decent rates. In a new catchment area with all the right rail links for Essex and the original UP local crowd?
