The worst part is we're on the cusp of becoming the richest club the world and 2 things could go wrong. I fear one of them will.. We'll either get relegated or we'll stay up and lose arbitration. It's all a bit too much... The sickening feeling is coming
This story is from the Sun and now the gazette have gone with it too. Not looking good... You can only imagine the amount of carrots that have been dangled in front of PIF since a year ago. Seems they've had their heads turned and if this is true you can't t blame them.. Inter is a bigger club and they'd instantly be in the champions league and can attract the biggest players from day 1. Fingers crossed it's a lazy story
It’s no secret Suning want to sell their stake. But the price seems mental. They paid €270m for their 68% stake less than 5 years ago and the club has racked up huge losses during the pandemic. The report I saw a week or 2 back was that they were looking for €775m for it. Or for an investor to come in and take about 30% pro rata which would bail out the debt issue.
Could be a number of things - the story itself is a couple of weeks old, as Tobes says, but was basically about how over-valued Inter actually are. The article is even a contradiction; Italian football remains very shaky ground, lot of debt floating around. Inter would cost in excess of £1bn just to put it right. Doesn't look like a sound investment strategy unless you could come in and pick up a club like Inter for £300m or so. What will be will be with this club. If it's not the Saudi's, it should eventually be someone else and let's take what we get. Anything is more or less better than Ashley, Saudi's come with considerable baggage too.
What will be will be we end up with Ashley any way this ends and he will be here at least a few more years if we go down and at least 1 if a stay up and lose arbitration...the buying process lasts a year and you need a genuine buyer that has interest to even start that process. I don't see this ending well whether we stay up or not..
Yeah probably not, which is what I’ve said all along. History repeating. I think we will still have Ashley and Bruce in the champ and it’ll take a while being stuck down there for Ashley to eventually **** off. But, look, Leeds did it. Villa did it. Sunderland are doing it. We are well overdue our turn with the way Ashley has done things, so it’s been coming.
I thought it was an owner and director test so they wouldn’t have to show that he was a director but that he effectively exerted significant control over PIF. I agree with @Geordieginola that I thought the documents made a convincing argument that the State exerted significant control over PIF as the Directors were actually appointed by Royal Decree and not by a vote by the Board of PIF.
Liam kennedy wrote it he's a Toon fan and he's been right throughout.. Spot on actually and took a load of grief even on the 1sr weeks after Pifs withdrawal statement he said it wasn't over... He's got a good source
UEFAs ludicrous plans to create a European super league to stave off the threat of a European super league (genius) appear to be two weeks from being realised. That means more spaces - one or two - and a realistic target for some ambitious clubs, particularly us who could have a slightly higher coefficient than some rivals. Who am I kidding? All this means is we’ve got a slightly better chance of winning the League Cup.
