Yes and the initial assertion is that Jesus existed and/or was a prophet of god or his son. Jack Bauer answered someone asking him "one bit of solid evidence that JC existed". That person didn't say that he didn't exist.
Maybe "dodgy character" was a bit disrespectful. The Aisha thing was in the Hadith I believe, and 9 years old is too young for sex whether it was 200 or 2000 years ago. Just because it was acceptable at the time does not mean it shouldn't be abhorred now. It was perfectly acceptable under Roman rule to feed Christians to lions but I wouldn't defend it on the basis that it was the done thing back then. As for the battles, if many were defensive, surely that also means that some were offensive? Surely not the behaviour of someone preaching the religion of peace? As for "most influential", that's not necessarily a good thing. Hitler is one of the most influential men in modern historry, but not in a good way. I don't want to get into an argument about your prophet by the way. He is clearly very important to many, many people, and I respect that
Personally, I think the burden of proof lies with the person making the most unrealistic claim (by general concensus).
Jip I dont want to argue with you either. I find your questions 'real' tbh. You come across as a sound guy (and your a UTD fan ). I dont see mockery etc in your questions, I see them as genuine questions and points Truth is 'islam means peace' is the biggest misconception perpetuated by the so called 'moderates'. Who I believe are the most dangerous. Islam means 'submission' and in particular submission to the will of god/Allah. By the way Allah is used by christians and Jews in arabia etc as there is no masculine/feminine (god/goddess) or plural (gods). The ayesha thing is a recent phenomenon. It was never an issue for years, simply because the 9 year old thing is not true. Hitler was 'influential' but not the most in shaping world history. Also look/read what was said in the quotes i wrote earlier
Perhaps Julius Caesar might be a better example than Hitler? Leaving aside the rather distasteful comparison, Hitler was too recent to have influenced much of history.
Irishgreen made the first mention of Jesus and proof. He said that there was no proof that he existed, which is true. He didn't claim that he didn't exist. Jack then went on to claim that he did exist as a direct reply.
I wasn't comparing Hitler to Mohammed, just asserting that "influential" doesn't always have to be good.
Your opinion is biased an based on the brainwashing mantra of the Koran. My opinion is based on the principle that all religion is bullshit and using it in order to justify rape, murder, child abuse, rape and many more crimes is not acceptable. Sorry. As for ghandi. Racist twat he was. **** his opinion. Hes the man who wanted to wipe out every black man in africa.
I know, but people tend to be a little touchy about comparing one of the most hated men in history with Hitler... er, I mean Mohammed! Mohammed! I meant Mohammed!
and there you have it. None of what I have quoted was from the quran. The people I have quoted were not even muslim
Mohammed was feared as a military leader. A man who crushed anyone who didnt agree with him. he ordered his men to take what they wanted by order of god. Theres a famous challenge set to muslims and anyone who wants to take part. When did Muhammed not chuck away his beliefs for a political gain? He changed everything to suit his own needs as and when he saw fit.
I said your opinion is based on the koran which forbids you asking questions about him. therefore as a muslim it is impossible for you to be apart of this debate in a fair sense.
the only touchy people I see are the anti'god brigade No one was 'comparing' as such. And you dont have to be a prophet or great leader to be influential
wrong again i am afraid The quran specifically states 'question all knowledge' The first pillar of Islam is to question and understand islam The points I made were based on people outside of Islams views on Muhammad
He mentioned the holy trinity, which isn't a suggestion about whether Jesus was a real person, in my opinion. Even if he were, then he's just addressing the general claim that Jesus existed. In order to claim that he doesn't exist, someone had to claim that he did in the first place. Feel free to prove that he did, though.
Does it? it doesnt. See the man who is responsible for the koran butchered all who questioned him. What does this say about the religion? Not good, not good at all. Islam is a religion of war. Christianity is a religion of abuse.
