The Leeds Utd vaccine. It attacks the opponent, misses a lot of chances, then lets it in via the back door.

My Mrs was chasing around trying to get an appointment, we live on kingswood and at first grimbo was the closest one she could get. I on the other hand decided to wait until my doctor rang.
Mrs mop finally got city hall but went off her trolley when my doc rang me, pop in on Thursday at 10.20 and will give you your jab they told me. Our doctor is literally less that a quarter mile away, “ if you wait, they will come “

Don't know what you have been reading butI've only read reports which say you can still pass it on. The benefit is it stops the effects being as bad for those who do get it, decreasing the likelihood of death and, just as importantly, decreasing the number of hospital admissions which have all sorts of knock on effects for the NHS and people needing or awaiting treatment for other things..

Little bit of info for those looking to book the vaccine. My wife and I received the letters on Saturday.. we live in a village in the outskirts of Cleethorpes and Grimsby. Went on the government website to book in and were constantly being offered City Hall in Hull or Lincoln showground.. both of these venues are over 30 miles away. My own medical centre is doubling as a vaccine centre and is a 2 minute walk away so in order to try and find out why a closer vaccine centre wasn't being offered I called them .. after speaking with them it would appear the site tends to be offering the larger vaccine centres as the primary options .. fortunately having spoken to my own medical centre they booked us in without delay for both dates .. 1st one on Saturday 2nd one due beginning of June.

Just wanted to mention it here as I know there will be a few reading this who dont have the options of travelling 30 miles to get the vaccine and if your own medical centres are doing it don't be afraid to ring them and speak to them .. hopefully they'll be able to save a lengthy journey.

What about the vaccine to protect you when entering Leeds?

Further to what I wrote there was a chap on saying because of how this vaccine works it raises questions on demanding people have it as it does not stop you getting it, or passing it on, it just decreases the effects. That is unlike the jabs we all had when young for measles, smallpox etc which meant you would not catch them and virtually eradicated them. Which in effect means it is likely to be around for a long time and we will have to learn to adapt.

    Does vaccination completely prevent infection?

The short answer is no. You can still get infected after you’ve been vaccinated. But your chances of getting seriously ill are almost zero.

Many people think vaccines work like a shield, blocking a virus from infecting cells altogether. But in most cases, a person who gets vaccinated is protected from disease, not necessarily infection.

Every person’s immune system is a little different, so when a vaccine is 95% effective, that just means 95% of people who receive the vaccine – but who would have gotten ill if exposed to the virus before – won’t get sick. These people could be completely protected from infection, or they could be getting infected but remain asymptomatic because their immune system eliminates the virus very quickly. The remaining 5% of vaccinated people – if exposed to the virus – could become infected and get sick, but are extremely unlikely to be hospitalized.

Vaccination doesn’t 100% prevent you from getting infected, but in all cases it gives your immune system a huge leg up on the coronavirus. Whatever your outcome – whether complete protection from infection or some level of disease – you will be better off after encountering the virus than if you hadn’t been vaccinated.

For myself it doesn't really change the way I behave anyway. I'll carry on social distancing, mask wearing, hand washing as normal, because why the hell not?

It's just that like I've said, I've read conflicting opinions, even on here, I can't remember who.

The lateral flow test was found by Porton Down to be 54% accurate when performed by your average punter, thats not a test it's a ****ing gamble. Why we persist with this ****e is ridiculous. Bin the lateral flow lottery and go back to proper tests!

With a third of the population now vaccinated, most of the most venerable some time ago now, I'm not sure there's any real need to be testing in schools anyway.

My cynical side makes me wonder if they've ordered too many and trying to use them up with some pseudo justification

In NHS, other employers and even primary schools they get the back up tests to decide

That's blatant religious positive discrimination. Appalling. I thought Bede was dead anyway?
