Injuries haven't helped but this is supposed to be a squad with depth. Don't see it yet. Why are we persisting with the likes of Origi who clearly doesn't want to be at Anfield any more? He couldn't hit a barn door Officials/VAR, but too easy to blame them entirely because this has led to: Being too scared to score in case it gets ruled offside Trying too hard to defend and persisting with the high line defending which used to work and no longer does because it's been sussed out Long ball football, hit it and hope Giving the ball away too often Not giving players like Shaqiri and Minamino the opportunity to show what they can do, though personally I think Minamino has more to learn than Shaq. The Shaqiri question baffles me, though he came on last night No communication between Salah, Mane and Firmino; the chemisty has gone between them for some reason It's been said Long Covid has been affecting players like Trent. I'm sorry, but if that's the case he shouldn't be playing, he should be resting. I have a colleague with Long Covid. She's had it since August and she's still not well They're all tired, but with what? That's an ironic one considering we've been offered to take part in that daft European Super League thing You can speculate about what the problem is until the cows come home, but to be honest we'll never really know because we won't be told and all the above is my assessment and guess work. I know as much as the rest of you: bugger all. I wouldn't even bother getting worked up about it. We can't fix it, only Klopp can.
We aren't... its just the cycle... United, arsenal Chelsea City went through the 3 year cycle. We forget that we literally put an effort in the year before that would have won a title any other year... to lose that would have ****ed up a lot of teams ... we managed to drive on to the point we won with ease... got to acknowledge the same theory says after 2 years of dominance City had nothing left.... We are now there... could we have avoided it without the injuries this year? Yeah but thats like saying we would have lost the title year if we were unlucky enough to pick up the same injuries... We said for years the age of dominance is gone... this is our down year....
I don't think it's crisis .... yet. We're going through a very poor run of form. Despite playing like dog sh*t for a month, we probably still did enough to win most of those games. Performances aside, we can't underestimate the role of luck as well - we have had zero luck and almost everything decision, every 50/50 every chance or shot or tackle etc etc has gone against us. We will get through this but we desperately need to sign a centre back in January. We cannot rely on Williams / Phillips to partner Matip or Fabinho. And bringing 1 CB means they can partner Matip and Fabinho can go back into midfield.
Mane and Salah have lost a step of pace and speed through age, that's all. many games in 2 years where we deserved a draw and one or the other gave us 3. We still dont conceded many, we're still pretty fkn good defensively, if Salah and Mane dont score no one does, and that my chums is the problem.
Bad Donga. 'Tis a good job I don't believe in jinxes and witchery or I'd be round your place with pitchfork and flaming torch.
We've gone from injuries and lack of luck to where we are now - we have no confidence, players are badly underperforming now and lack of ideas from the manager. Very worrying. No more excuses, we should not be playing this poorly.
Without playing particularly well, we coped with the adversity for a while, but the adversity kept on coming and it seems we were worn down eventually. Even now we don't seem to be able to go a week without a new injury. Everyone else has to deal with the fixture congestion, and plenty of others have picked up injuries. I don't know (and can't be bothered to check) whether we are significantly worse off in that respect than others at our level, but it seems like it goes deeper. A real crisis of confidence somewhere. It has to bottom out eventually, let's just hope we're not too far gone before it does.
