I was walking down the road with my friend the other day and we saw a dog licking his balls. My mate said I wish I could do that. I said give him a bone and he might let you.
Thanks Aberdeen! Wow 8 times! Thats very impressive! Running the London Marathon has always been a dream of mine ever since I was a kid. I've applied in the ballot every year since I was old enough and have never got a place (they stopped doing the guarenteed place after so many failed attempts the year I was due to get my guarenteed place, typical!). This year I managed to get a charity place with a small charity that doesn't require you to raise £2.5k like most of them seem to. No way I could raise that much! I'm so excited to have a place, just praying the country is in a stable enough place that it goes ahead! On Southampton half. Yes the route looks the same! I know in the past the route was flipped and had the Itchen bridge near the end, but it's current route its nearer the beginning. Shortly after you cross back across the Itchen you have the glory of running through St.Marys which is a fun quirk of the course! Near the end the uphill from Bitterne Park to the Common is a pretty tough uphill.
You`ll really enjoy London - the crowd is fantastic the whole way round, and really gives you a lift. I don`t envy my son having to do two laps in Soton, knowing he has the same undulations coming up again! Looking forward to running through SMS - last time I was pitch side was after the Coventry game when we got promoted !
I ran it a couple of years ago, was great fun! This year I'm doing the Southampton Sportive, a 100km cycle the day before. I managed a 50km cycle at the weekend, but I think 100km is going to be a push!
I'm paying someone to deliver it , that's the whole point. Whether its 1 mile or 100 miles. I've paid for the service and they have to fulfill it. It's not really a debate is it.
Wasn't arguing with your right to be cross...you pay for a service, you expect it. Just making the general point that we must start to get out and about when we can or there will be health consequences if we become couch potatoes.
I fancy that @SaintsCookie . Can you post a link to it please? I have done 100km about 5-6 times now. Aiming to do 100mikes at some point this year, but having done my first 70 Mile ride this weekend, I may also be pushing.
Look out for the Southampton Ukulele Jam entertaining the runners and trying to give support at Bitterne Triangle. We’ve been doing that for a number of years now - always a great day out!
Will do ! It`s all quite nostalgic for me - in 1976/7 I lived at No4 Cobden Rise which overlooks the Bitterne Park pub.
Of course, https://www.sporterium.co.uk/sportive-standard/ The dates wrong, but otherwise that page has all the details!
thanks .. saw somewhere that said 4th September? This could be @Onionman ’s long anticipated chance to see me in full Lycra.
