Over the years we have somehow managed to develop a Wembley hoodoo which as we all too sadly know, is not at all helpful where the playoffs are concerned. So lets put out as strong a team as possible and smash Tranmere and smash this hoodoo once and for all!!!

Oh mate, first Wembley win of my lifetime I will be celebrating like we’ve won the Champions League if we win.

I have no shame in that.

The way some people are going on it's as if we're going away for a mid-season tour of the Far East.

It's 4 days after Portsmouth and we have a few days rest before Accrington ...

... no difference to what we're doing most weeks now tbh.

I'm really looking forward to it.
I cant understand how some are dismissing this, its an opportunity to win a trophy. Fair enough, its one i hope we never have to compete in again through league status, but its still a trophy. If it wasn't for covid, we would have sold 40,000+ for it. It would have been a great weekend as well, the Tranmere fans would have added to it, not like the coked up pompey arseholes last time.

Ive got the house to myself next Sunday, so I'm going out, at about 2.00pm, and walking round the block, shirt on, ticket in pocket, with a can of beer. Im coming in with my ticket, settle down on the settee pulled up in front of the tele, have a quick skim of the programme, ready for kick off.

I just want to see a Sunderland captain lifting a trophy, at Wembley, adorned with Red and White ribbons.

Exactly that's why there was 40,000 thousand at Wembley for the Pompey game. It matters, for the current players do you think they will look back on their careers and say to the grand kids I once won promotion finishing runners up in the league however I won a cup final at Wembley.

Talking to my lad have seen us win promotion countless times but to say we have won a trophy at a Wembley final no comparison. I am jealous as hell of my mate who is 5 years older than me who went to Wembley in 1973.

The one game at a time cliche is often rolled out, but this definitely applies to us.

I'm sure that LJ will have the players fully focused on beating Pompey on Tuesday, and putting some distance between us and them. Our self belief must be very high at the moment, and Pompey's will be extremely low, particularly after yesterday's result.

Once this match is out of the way, if I was LJ, I'd be telling the players to go out and enjoy the day on Sunday, to express themselves and play without fear. Do that and the result will take care of itself.

Really looking forward to watching us lift the trophy next Sunday. From Monday morning it is important that we re-focus quickly on Accrington.

Sure I read somewhere that the SoL pitch is bigger than Wembley as well so the 'massive' pitch is a myth as well.

We've been to the final before and know promotion is the priority. Last time we had tens of thousands of expectant supporters but next Sunday we can relax and play the kind of football we know we can ...

... the 4-0 at Lincoln is an example.

Johnson isn't daft enough to put them under pressure and I'm expecting a great performance.

We've bought ourselves some breathing space in the league.

Strongest team, go out to win it. Let's not take this as a foregone conclusion.

It just needs to be Dance of the Knights into the prodigy. Simple. None of the mess inbetween.

I'll be popping out to pay my respects to my dear old ma (RIP) as it's mothers day, then settling down with a pile of beer to watch it all unfold. I'm hoping a good result v Pompey will set us up for the final, and I just hope it goes off without injury, we need fit bodies for the run-in.

Agreed , I am sick of walking away from Wembley as a loser ever since the magnificent day in 1973 perhaps with no fans able to go the hoodoo will be broken , seven times in a row I think - we must must beat Tranmere !!!
