When we cleared that free-kick late on and tried to break, but Moura picked a really **** pass, it left a lot of players stretched. He had an easy one out to the right and got it completely wrong. Even just winning a free-kick or throw-in would've done.
Look at how well Fulham played with and without the ball earlier...then look at us. They were confident, pressed after scoring, concentrated throughout and held their nerve...everything we don't do. Honestly do not have a clue what we work on in training between games.
I blame him for their goal. He gave it away stupidly trying to slide the ball forward. Bale was free outside right or he could have carried the ball forward. Bad decision making. Moments before he tried to go it alone, failed, lost the ball, won it back, had acres of space but made the stupid pass. All in the final minutes of the half, when you shouldn't be losing the ball.
Doherty is just dreadful. No defensive positional sense and when he gets the chance to be the RWB he ****s that up to.
Why didn't Doherty prevent that coming in? Just get the **** out there. Strolls out hopes it's going to be ****.
He made our goal and has been an absolute live wire. Everything right? No, but to blame him for the goal is extreme. There were half a dozen mistakes in a short space of time starting with the Winks foul.
When was that? I think he's done it twice this season. The win against Antwerp and the draw with Wolves. He's been bloody awful, though. Looks completely lost.
It really is criminal Doherty gets selected over Tanganga. Yeah I get you wanna get value for the £13m you paid but ****ing hell when you’ve got players like him and Winks starting you’re more or less giving the opposition a 2 man advantage at the start of a game. Doherty’s making Gedson’s signing look good business. Worst fullback since Gilberto.
Zaha’s coming on, if he’s on their left/ our right, get behind your sofa or pillow, it’s gonna be rough viewing.
Tanganga got a couple of games at right-back this season and he was awful, too. He's clearly struggling with injuries and I'd be very hesitant to risk killing his confidence at the moment.
Like Bale he needs a run of games though. We play Tanganga once a month if he’s lucky. Give him a few games in and I’d guarantee he’d be leagues above Doherty, we saw last season how good he can be.
Zaha on for Eze. Didn't have a lot of impact, but he'll be disappointed to come off. Not looking forward to this half, at all.
Mourinho's decisions largely leave me confused but picking Doherty above Tanganga is absolutely mystifying. The bloke looks haunted by being on the pitch, what Mourinho's seeing, I cannot imagine.
Riedewald in the book. Should've got one in the first minute, of course, but I doubt he'd have been off for that if he had.
