My wife had the 1st az jab a few days ago. Her arm is still red and sore. Also had vomiting and feeling rough , in fact she still feels a bit groggy now. It is passing tho.

Certainly does seem to affect people differently! Hope she’s better soon! As Fran says, though, don’t let it put you or her getting a 2nd dose!

Makes sense: its job is to provoke a significant immune response, and a fair number of the symptoms when sick are really from the immune response itself. So it's not a lot of fun, but it's not a bad thing!

Our elderly neighbours son had COVID and was in hospital . He went home then was re-admitted about a week ago . He died yesterday kidney and liver failure . I didn’t really know him , he was 57 and seemingly fit as a fiddle worked as a kitchen fitter .

This is really to just tell anyone who thinks COVID is not real ( not suggesting anyone on here does ) it most certainly is !

I am sorry for your neighbours loss :(
The virus is certainly very real, the problem is with all the misinformation out there from antivaxers and covid deniers, people really do believe it’s a conspiracy and it beggars belief.
Unfortunately our very own MLT is on that bandwagon and is quite vocal on Twitter.

Another thing that saddens me, is the number of people who say “they had an underlying health condition” in an attempt to minimise the true death figures caused by Covid.
This is regularly used in news bulletins and reports as if to say, “Oh well they were going to die anyway”.
People need to understand that a person having an underlying health condition doesn’t mean that they are on the verge of dying. They could still have several years of life ahead, and the hope that during those years, new treatments could be found to extend life even further, if not find a cure.

Covid has undoubtedly taken some people who would have died soon....as borne out by the fact that the excess death number is not as high as would be expected if Covid-related deaths were just added on to expected deaths. And to be honest with my experience of having a friend suffering for 6 months longer than she needed to because doctors kept treating her instead of just letting her go....I think some deaths are a blessing.

However, a recent study suggested that Covid reduces life span by an average of 14 Years!! So not a blessed release in most cases, but a serious curtailment of life span with all the suffering that produces for family and friends.

Sorry, I wasn’t linking the comment to your post, just trying to get my point across about how, I think, some people, not you, have used the underlying illness issue as an excuse to not take the high death count as seriously as they should.
The point I am struggling to make is that many people don’t understand that an underlying illness doesn’t necessarily mean that the person is close to dying, in normal times.
