Exactly. We can only win and beat what's in front of us. I would not be ashamed at all to celebrate lifting the EFL trophy. Not one bit. Come on lads.

Devastated we can’t attend. There’s no feeling like walking up Wembley way with your dad and son. Also when the teams enter the field - amazing feeling, almost proud.

Exactly mate it's like saying Glasgow Rangers when they were relegated to league 2 shouldn't celebrate winning the league 2 title

Ordered myself one of the special edition programs from the club website. Let’s just break the Wembley hoodoo please, it feels like a massive thing for the club to win there again even if it is a Mickey Mouse trophy.

We've had to endure so much ****e in the last 4/5 season's, if any fans deserve a glimmer of hope its us lot.
So we dont have to choose between one or the other. Let's expect the best of outcomes, I for one will celebrate an EFL Trophy win at Wembley as much as I've mourned a relegation....and I've seen a few!

Let’s be real, we should pick Tranmere off with ease, and the final should be seen as another shot in the arm for the promotion push, not a hinderence.

I see no reason not win the next 3 games and get right up the arse of the top 2.

Top 1 after today, I didn’t see Posh dropping soft points.

Lets get Pompey dusted and go from there.

When we win next Sunday - I know for certain I will be bouncing around the house with my son singing shouting - was too young to remember 73 and have been to every wembley defeat since then.

The league position will take care of itself put opportunities to win trophies does come around often so I am all in for next week.

I reckon next Sunday is important to our chance of promotion. Winning a trophy (remember these are mostly league 1 players, or young lads) will give them a big boost in confidence and momentum I reckon. Losing to a side a division below could have the opposite effect. It is another way to shake of the 'typical Sunderland' tag with a win at Wembley.

Doesnt David Nugent play for them. He must have a few goals against us. I would have preferred to play against Vaughan. He's sh*te.

Portsmouth game is currently far more important as it’s the next one. But after that, this is the biggest game of the season.

39 years since my first game. God knows how many trips to Wembley. I want to see us win a trophy. There is no reason we can’t win this and the league!

Nugent must be in his fifties by now ...

... if we let him score we don't deserve the cup.

Hopefully play the youth team. This unnecessary distraction couldn’t come at a worse time imo. Important we beat Pompey Tuesday now.

So we've got all the way to a final playing strong starting 11s and now we've reached the final you want all that hard work undone by playing the kids. Jesus Christ

Imagine you've played every EFL Trophy game and are told your Wembley place has been given to a youth team player.

It's a 90 minute match with no pressure on the team ...

    ... I bet the players can't wait.
