I said something fairly similar at the start of the season, Hamilton may be the faster and better racer, but Button has consistency on his side, the fact that Button is leading Hamilton despite being the driver with the reliability issues says a lot. I can't see Hamilton being any different next year, he'll be out to prove something and will probably take just as many stupid risks early in this season.

Gonna have to give it to Vettel though, qualifying has been Buttons major downfall this year, where Vettel has been immense. Some say starting from pole so many times has made it easy for him, but seem to ignore that he's only on pole because he's put himself there. Yes he's been given the car, but look how he's used it.

As to Alonso, he's only close to Button because of Buttons 2 DNF's through car problems, otherwise he'd be 40 - 50 points further behind.

Button wouldn't have finished higher than 4th in those races.

    Ok guys, it's like this.

Say Man Utd won the league, and Swansea came 6th this year. I would say Swansea had the better season, because they've achieved so much with so little, as opposed to United who, whilst they may have played better, were expected to.

    Get it now?

I think he would have been in 2nd in Silverstone, as he was fighting with Webber and probably could have taken Seb, but only 4th in Germany. But then there was Canada where Button took Alonso out, which may have cost Alonso 25 points (32 on Button)

Under normal circumstances yes, but if United got 100 points it would be hard to deny them.

I agree with the OP. Button has been the driver of the season in my book. And Alonso has been pretty amazing as well. Vettel has had the best car though. I am even more impressed by Perez than I am with Vettel. I am not saying Vettel doesn't deserve his WDC, he had a great season as well.

that's debatable, the McLaren tends to come alive later in the race, especially in Buttons hands, whereas the others tend to slow up.
