Perhaps the government wants to stir up some silt with a little "well it's a fair increase in the present situation" after all the clapping and banging, let's just make a little wave just to get a few people start to question the nurses "cheek" of considering striking and as for your doctor well he/she has had a Beano for me I don't know whether mine has gone to the great stethoscope in the sky or not,why can you not see them, I went for my flu jab and saw the nurse in the practice she said she had to sanitise when I'd left.
Now is it beyond reasonable to think can your g.p. not do the same, it's not a bleeding full cleanse down after all.
And how about our m.p's not claiming for every paper clip they use,you can easily find out who and what has been claimed and it's not good reading....let Matt Hancock start the ball rolling eh.

If you’d have bothered to read my actual post properly, you’d have seen I referred to no one on here or their views.

So dismount your faux high horse and open your own eyes pal.

The government has offered 1% but budgeted for 2.1%.

The unions want 12.5% and will tell the press that they are readying for strike action. That process takes at least 3 months yet the nurses haven't even been balloted as yet which would take about 3 or 4 weeks to organise and get done.

Meanwhile the press have got on to it on the nurses side (to start with at least) so the pressure is on the government at the moment.

There isn't a deadlock as yet so communication channels are still open.

There will be another offer of 1.5% which will likely be rejected and then they will finally accept a 1.8% increase with guarantees over the next couple of years. Everyone will feel like they have won.

It's just how these things work. No need to all get worked up. Everything will be resolved by summer and the press will move on to something else for you to argue over.

To be fair, i don't blame the Nurses. On the front line risking there lives and whilst the government are dolling out contracts willy nilly to their mates, renovating a room in westminster for 2.5m or paying some guys 10 billion (i think) for track and trace to be modelled on an excel spreadsheet , i can certainly see why they are thinking lets have a bit of that.

Hancock needs investigating where his mates have been handed millions of pounds worth of contracts, then look at Whitty, Vallance and Johnsons dealings with big Pharma.
It may wake a few people up

This is why they don't have much leverage at the moment. Alot of people claiming they will leave their jobs because of the 1%. Where are they going to go? Unemployment is the worst it has been for years.

Easy, they go and work on bank, as there’s 40,000 currently unfilled nursing vacancies.

My daughter can earn as much money doing 2 bank shifts (nights or weekends) than she does working full time.

28% of nursing staff now leave within 3 years of joining. An increase of 50% in the last 7 years. The entire service is running on goodwill and nurses feeling responsible for covering shortfalls by doing extra shifts and working barmy shift patterns as a result.

It's not just the money but the whole package. Starting salary with less than a years experience is £24k rising to over £30 and their pension is one of the best in the UK. Sorry but I have no sympathy with anyone who applies for a job knowing their terms and conditions then moan about it later.

I swear - this is what the nurses at Southampton general wear.

Aren't most banks run by the NHS?

Why don't they do that anyway if the money is better?

Not getting at you, just curious?

There has also been record number of people wanting to become nurses at the moment. It's not a good time to threaten to walk out really. Ironically the best time was last March.

For the record I want the front line staff to get a decent payrise. They just have to tread carefully. They will end up with more than 1%.
