Are we cool with Burge now, after all the various defences he's had to cope with I'd say the lad's doing good ... .. he's saved us quite a few points recently.
Compared to some of the jokers we have had in goal for us including his competition Remi Matthews , Camp , Steele , he is more like Gordon Banks or am I getting carried away . Just hope he stays fit or it has to be Patterson .
Just had a read of what Johnson was saying on the injury front. Really encouraging the likes of Hume, Wright and Stewart are close. The current injuries we have are big improvements to bring back in and the squad deserves credit that they’re top of the form table with the amount of lads out.
I am hopeful we will be relaxed by HT. They have a few players out so will come for a draw imo. Early goal and hopefully the floodgates will open.
Enjoyed watching that. That's a happy group of players. Great to see Hume and Stewart moving so well, Stewart is a giant like isn't he!
I've seen a few training ground videos but none as long as that. It could be that in some way but also maybe to show the supporters Benji, Hume, Stewart and Grant all on the pitch training. I do think the current ownership team will be well up to speed on the rivalry and where and when to prod. I would obviously love the mags to go down this year but them scraping it and us being promoted wouldn't be a bad thing. Bruce will keep his job and will know doubt lead them down next season and by then we will have steadied and strengthened in the championship and will be in prime position to overtake them. That's what my crystal ball shows anyway.
Rather he was left out of the side all together until fully fit if I’m honest. I get he wants to play etc, but the team comes first and we can’t be carrying passengers.
I wouldn't disagree with you but after the length of time the physio was looking at him and the way he walked off the pitch, I wasn't expecting him to train for a while
All good points mate, can't disagree with any of that. I'd love to know more about the release of that clip, there's a lot more to it than meets the eye. Who authorised it and why for example. Whoever it was obviously feels they have the authority and a good reason, unless it's KLD's idea of course. If it's done without consulting him it means we have people, in the club, taking responsibility and showing initiative. As for the 'why' you could be right and it's to show the supporters who's fit. But, as by product and perhaps inadvertently, it shows other teams how confident we are and also what a good place it is to come to if you're eyeing a move. I played Sunday League, for a few teams, and the difference between a happy noisy bantery team and a quiet dour one is massive. Happiness and success are intertwined but it's a chicken & egg situation ... ... you're never sure which came first.
We have real synergy now from the very top all the way through the club and I think we are going to be hard to stop. I know us as supporters are delighted to see KLD doing things that were neglected and creating new positions for people to come in to take us forward but this must also have a huge impact on the players as well. I bet the AOL has a completely different feel now and they are enjoying life more. Let's hope we keep it going and no banana skin today. The only real negative that I read on every forum and hear on every podcast/youtube channel is Mcfazdean. I don't rate him and he isn't doing well but I'm not going to get too hung up one 1 negative too much when there are so many positives. I've done that in the past and I have learned from it. I used to have a real downer on Bardsley to the point where I was looking for errors he made but wasn't doing the same for other players so I was biased. In hindsight he was a cracking player for us and loves the club (a podcast he was on a few years ago was brilliant). I can remember when I first used to go to Roker Park my dad and his good friend used to really moan about Bob Lee and I can remember Alan Brown getting stick so maybe it was in my dna, time to acknowledge the negatives but concentrate more on the positives.
I can remember watching him, I was about 9 when he was playing. My brother still talks about that cup game at St James, I was at home listening on the radio as was too young to go there, I remember listening on the radio and jumping around the house when we won on penalties.
I think we need to give LJ time, and the benefit of the doubt, as well as the players. Good coaching and man management can make all the difference and improve players you thought would never fit in. When you look at the list of players previously 'written off' it's telling, Burge Wyke O'Brien McGeady Leadbitter Power Gooch Hume Scowen
I criticised him and it was deserved but credit where it’s due, he’s turned it around and looks a lot more assured. Looks a lot more confident as well, maybe it was a smart move dropping him, looks like it gave him the kick up the Arse he needed.
