Two form teams, the unstoppable force versus the immovable object!

Turns out no contest, the unstoppable force has ground to a dead halt, and may soon go into full reverse! And we all know that Mark Warburbleton is solely and completely responsible for everything!

Quick everyone down to Shepherds Bush Green, there’s gonna be a lynchin’!

We started off with Chair in behind Austin and Dykes.
Second half, Warburton lost the plot, pushing Chair up top.
There's always the possibility that Chair just isn't that good.
He has flashes of flair etc, but he's so inconsistent.
Not sure how you'd play him and Willock in our system unless Willock starts up front with Austin.

This is exactly what I have been thinking. For the last few games, we seem to keep trying to play the opposition's game instead of stamping our own style onto proceedings.

We actually got quite good previously at soaking up pressure by getting the ball moving around. But every time one of the back three or two wingbacks get onto the ball, there seems to be no player looking to relieve pressure by offering himself up for a pass.

Basically, we don't seem to be trying to win midfield at the moment. It's all defenders blasting the ball up the park and attackers waiting for the ball up front, with nothing else in between.

I'd have on striker (Austin) and the Willock/Chair duo playing a fluid rotation in front of him. One to receive/retrieve the ball, one to then open up for a pass.

He's obviously not responsible for everything, but I don't rate him tactically.
Tonight was awful in the second half.
Oh and we weren't a form team going into that.
A draw and two defeats in the last three.

I honestly dont think there would be much difference if Dykes and Cameron swapped positions!

That ball spent as much time in the air than on the ground, head tennis nearly half the match, don’t like the way Barnsley play & we got sucked into hoofing it & was poor at it, didn’t enjoy the game one bit, entertainment zero, agree Bob there was no football played

Barnsley are clearly very good at what they do.
They stopped us playing most of the game and just got the ball from back to front as quickly as possible in order to play in our half or put us under a lot of pressure.
    Not pretty but effective.

Oh, they didn't look tired though after all these games!!!
I bet Warburton says we were.

Agree tiredness doesn’t wash with me, fit men FFS, Barnsley stopped us playing our normal passing game & closed us down quick, should’ve switched tactics, oh hang on we don’t know how to

With our set up we are only playing 1 playmaker. Normally within a 3-5-2 the 2 wing backs are attacking skillful players we play Wallace and Kane, that is our issue, we totally rely on Chair as there is not one other player on the park.(Are next best are both centre backs). This is the championship Barnsley were no better than us just took their chances, Charlie or Dykes take theirs at 0-0 different result

Dykes Ball and Cameron try but are either not good enough or too slow. For the last two we have better replacements waiting possibly

Sad to lose again after having the best stats over 6 games now have one of the worst over last 3.
Barnsley have been on good form of late and I expected a tough match. Once again it seems our defence can switch off. 5 goals in 2 games isn’t moving forward. I hope it’s just a blip and we can bounce back.
    Why can’t Dykes score?

I actually thought our problem last night was the hard-press tactics from the opposition. We couldn't cope, were nowhere near mobile enough and panicked in possession.
The free kick for their second goal was harsh but we would have wanted it given for us.
I have to chuckle when I see people clamouring for more game time for Willock. To me he lacks effort and you certainly cannot say that about Dykes.

My other comment on the ref was how did he not see and punish the shocking dive from Mowatt. I guess at least he didn't book Cameron.

Couldnt agree more. I like Ball and Dykes for their effort but sometimes effort just isnt enough. Cameron is different, always looking around for who to blame for his **** ups, constantly, randomly pointing in every direction. Just a ****e player.

I think we have to accept we were beaten by a better team. They had energy, tactical awareness and a very good shape. They were winning many 50/50 balls and sounder in possession. We gave the ball away far too often and never seemed to get any ascendency throughout the game. We have to accept we are at best a mid table side and Charlie's goals will probably keep us up. So many teams below us picking up points we are only 5 points clear of Brum in 21st, too close for comfort as it has been each of the previous seasons. 50 points can't come quick enough, as usual...
