    Nuggets,

I think everyone had a chance to read your post from The Article but I have removed it now to keep us from getting into trouble <ok>

I also deleted your previous thread too, just in case.

Have to say I'm happy with bringing Cook in. Knows the lower leagues, plays decent football and wants to do well in cups as well as the league.

I hope he turns out to be just what we need.

No worries, San Diego. I was considering removing them later this evening. I guess we've all got to watch Spanish's video now!

I'm shocked we've got him, don't think we could've made a better appointment in our position. Apparently he's turned down a few Championship jobs including Cardiff... so McCarthy was their 2nd choice...not doing badly though, looks like Mick has a team matched to his strengths, looks like the land of the giants over there.

I've liked what I've heard of Matt Gill and Jimmy Walker but I just hope Paul Cook wanted them.and they weren't forced upon him.

Dare we hope that a corner has been turned?Three straight wins against "better" opposition,a new manager and possibly new owners with incentive to inject a bit of cash.........it's always the hope that's the killer.

I think the weirdest thing is that a back four including Kenlock, Nsiala and Chambers at right back are playing like absolute heroes. Who could have foreseen that a month ago?

The marked improvement in the performances of Chambers, Nsiala, Wilson, Kenlock, Judge, and Norwood has been quite impressive to watch. I think a few of us (including myself) would have that back four as a 'second choice' defensive line-up behind Matheson, Wolfenden, McGuiness, and Ward. It demonstrates the squad depth and amount of options we have at the club. Paul Cook must be rubbing his hands with glee, because we do have a squad where you've got at least two decent or good players (at this level) potentially competing for a place in the starting eleven. The poor injury record does not help, but in comparison to most of our League One opponents, we can afford to withstand injuries to several players and still field a strong League One-standard line-up.

The main issue with Lambert was his inability to get the best out of this team, with the exception of strong runs at the start of the last couple of seasons. I'm hoping Cook is able to get the players coached and set up in a much more attacking and effective manner.

I still think CB is an area we should have strengthened the past couple of transfer windows with an experienced solid CB to play alongside Woolfenden. Chambers hasn't looked good a CB since Mick converted him to a RB, Nsiala looks like a top defender for this level 90% of the time but the rest he makes a big mistake, so I'd look to get rid then I don't mind Wilson he's probably our least talented CB but most consistent however if we were serious about promotion he shouldn't be anymore than a back up.

I think tactically Lambert was questionable and the flip flopping around wasn't helpful but I'm not sure its fair to say he he didn't get the best out of the team. In over a year this is the first time I can recall having fit and available options in every position and we're still missing a few first team players and an injury to someone like Norwood and we suddenly look really short upfront. We can talk about getting the best of of the players which is true but more importantly for me it's about making sure we manage to keep the majority of the squad match fit.

It's been very rare since we've been in league 1 (perhaps it even extends beyond that) that I've looked at our team sheet not thought that there is a glaring weakness due to injury or suspension.

Just listened to Paul Cook interview and knowing his previous success if there is no takeover and we don't have some sort of success under him that would 100% confirm to me there is something fundamentally wrong with our football club.

I've said for some time it would take someone special to turn our clubs fortunes around, let's hope we've found him. Very impressed with his first press conference.

He spoke well, candidly, honestly and knows what he has to deal with. Sense of humour too.

The manager's manager. If he cant do it for us, with his enviable record, no-one can.

It’s the first time we’ve had a positive character / man with a sunny outlook since Joe Royle. We have had too many pragmatic, Victor Meldrew types. I particularly liked what he said about aiming for the stars. About time we had someone who wasn’t going to make excuses.

That’s the real rub here. Our club is run to just keep it afloat. The whole premise sets it up as an organisation for failure. I was frustrated fans were so against MM for hit and hope footy. But That bloke worked miracles for us under this owner. He took wolves up playing champagne football. He’s now flying at Cardiff. He didn’t play hit and hope because he didn’t know what else to do. It was the only way to be competitive in the circumstances with the players we have and the investment he was given. Now we’re in div 3. What’s the point of buying a football club if you aren’t going to plough money in and drive it forward? No one makes money owning a football club at the top level, even the glazers break even on that debt at Man U. Its a crazy industry for people with crazy money to splurge. If u dont want to splurge, go buy a yacht and get a tan instead.

Cook is a good manager at this level. But one man doesn’t make a successful organisation. We need a proper plan from owners with a clear idea for success. Until that happens we’re plodding towards nowhere.

Let’s not be jealous of Cardiff. Leicester City are the only club at the moment to look up and aspire to.

I’m sure MM had Kieffer Moore when he was at ITFC but didn’t think he was good enough for the team

Mick certainly has some really good skills as a manager but I'm pretty sure his football has never been described as champagne football. If he was backed here with just a bit of money or consistency I'm sure he would have got us promoted. But the things I picked up in Paul Cook's interview was he said we straight away and he spoke about reaching for the stars. Mick wouldn't have said either of those things, he's certainly a glass half empty kind of guy. I certainly couldn't have put up with anymore of those performances which sucked the fun out of football. I always remember when he was Wolves manager and he made 10 changes to his team against Man Utd in the FA Cup because his priority was saving Wolves from relegation, I just hate that mindset, it takes takes fun out of football.

Obviously we're just at the start with Paul Cook but I haven't seen us appoint a manager that ticks so many boxes in a long time and as I said loved the fact he said we. Under Keane and McCarthy we were always Roy Keanes Ipswich or Mick McCarthys Ipswich and it felt they were there for the club or the fans, they showed no loyalty to us. Lambert I couldn't work out even at Norwich where he performed one of the most remarkable achievements in football history, he still left there under a cloud and showed them no loyalty.

I'm hoping Paul Cook's decision to turn down Championship clubs for us is a sign he's coming here for the right reasons
