I wouldn't be surprised if there's further incidents picked up retrospectively. And both clubs are clearly getting fined.
I was watching the City game, so only turned over just before the fighting starting. But if they're right to say that it stemmed from Lerma fouling throughout the game, that doesn't surprise me. He's a dirty, disgusting player. And even though his yellow card tally is off the scale, he still doesn't get punished enough by referees in my view.
Be interesting to see what happens when we play them. A PL ref will undoubtedly get appointed so may well have a shorter leash.
Thankfully for us, Lerma is already suspended for that one. He can't do any damage to our already depleted squad.
Sad to learn that Glenn Roeder has just passed away. This comes shortly after the sad news about Gordon McQueen. and Peter Lorimer. It has not been a good week regarding some of the big names I grew up with as a football fan in the 70s and 80s.
Ian St John has died https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/56250355 RIP Saint. I never saw him play but loved Saint & Greavsie.
Bit of a surprise that, he was doing a good job at Donny and there is a genuine possibility that Doncaster could be in the Championship next season and Sheffield Wednesday in League One. Doncaster are also sustainably run, Sheffield Wednesday are a basket case that could completely implode, to me that should negate the 'bigger club' draw. Not going to be a popular guy if he ever heads back down the M18.
Ironic that he managed Pompey given his nickname.... I also loved Saint and Greavsie....R.I.P. Saint...
Also I see we are going to bid for the 2030 World Cup with the other home nations and the Republic of Ireland. I can see England / Scotland and Ireland joint hosting, but Wales only really has one World Cup capable stadium (even if it is one of the best venues in Europe) and I really have no idea how Northern Ireland can play a part. I actually think we have a better chance with this one as the current Government won’t be opposed to a bung or two and the CONMEBOL joint bid looks a mess. Biggest competition will come from Spain/Portugal.
The Kingspan Stadium in Belfast, home of Ulster Rugby, is state of the art and has a capacity of 18,000, which is probably big enough for one or two group matches.
There are some tidy smaller stadiums for sure, but FIFA sets a minimum capacity of 40,000 for World Cup venues...... Only reason I discounted Windsor Park, the Liberty Stadium and Cardiff City Stadium.
