Good Morning. It's Tuesday 2nd March, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road.

Leeds identify Amorim as possible Bielsa replacement

Leeds have identified Sporting CP manager Ruben Amorim as a potential replacement for Marcelo Bielsa should he quit Elland Road at the end of the season

Bielsa's contract is set to expire at the end of the season, and as of yet the 65yo has not decided on his future!

Portuguese journalist Bruno Andrade has reported that Amorim has been identified as a possible replacement for the 65yo.

Whites Radrizzani would like nothing more than Bielsa to commit to another season. He must recognise however that history shows that the former Marseille, Lazio and Lile gaffer does not stay in one place for too long. At 65yo, how many more years will he want to manage for?

Berardi is back - with a vengeance

Fans favourite Gaetano Berardi played his first competitive game for over seven months, since the former Swiss International tore his ACL during their Promotion winning trip to Pride Park last June. (The Anterior Cruciate Ligament is one of the major ligaments in your knee).

Berardi appeared for the U23's against Crystal Palace at the Beckenham Sports Centre, South London.
The 32yo hadn't lost any of his combative guile.- 45 minutes of sliding challenges, clearances and full-bloodiness tackles demonstrated to Mark Jackson's team that he is getting closer to first team action.

Unfortunately, the London curse took affect on the young Whites. Exciting winger Crysencio Summerville was sent for an early bath after just twenty minutes after picking up two yellow cards (first for dissent) to the astonishment of everyone else at the game. Leeds were well on top up til this point but fell behind

The Londoners took the lead just after the break when Cresswell failed to clear his lines. They doubled their advantage in injury time as Leeds went searching for an equaliser. You'll rarely see a more unjust scoreline, but that's football, and that's why we love it!

    Koch returns to training

Robin Koch is to return to training this week. The German International centre-back went under the surgeons knife after aggravating an existing knee injury sustained on the opening game of the season against Liverpool.

The injury was exasperated during their trip to Stamford Bridge last December and surgery took place a few days later. The operation went well, and the 24yo was recently spotted walking around Thorp Arch.

It has now been revealed that Koch is to return to light duties this week.

Who would be your centre-backs of choice once all fit? Berardi, Koch, Cooper and Llorente?

The statement regarding Bielsa not staying too long at football clubs is fairly accurate. However he is a man of honour and as long as the club do what they promised to do he will honour his contract. Another fact that people overlook is that he was happiest in football at Newells Old Boys, it was his local club and he started coaching the kids and then took over the first team and brought them glory by winning the league twice, the cup and if course the South American version if the Champions League. He is adored and revered back home. He is now on record as saying he is as happy here as he is back home. He has a great relationship with the club and Directors and cannot fault them as they give him everything he asks for. He knows the people of Leeds and Yorkshire have taken him to their hearts. He knows the Leeds fans are as passionate about their club and him as much as he felt about Newells. Newells and Leeds is is happy places.

Bielsa will be here next season, no doubt about that and next season may be his last, but Leeds has been his second longest time in a club ever and its also the longest time Leeds have had a manager in place for years. No coincidence he loves it here, but media clickbait headlines like “El Loco walks out” overlooks reality at Leeds

We who are old men now remember having many years of top footy banter and real footy punditry. On ITV we had these 2 alongside Dickie Davies and Brian Moore, but as the new younger management took over at ITV Sport they decided to bin it all and the result was a useless Sports department and who can forget the collapse of the ITV football deal in Scotland that is still felt. Saint and Greavsie carried in though because other Tv stations and radio networks knew they were gold

Prime Minister Boris Johnson confirmed today that the UK would be willing to host Euro 2020 this summer - if UEFA deems it necessary - while also announcing a Home Nations bid for the 2030 World Cup.

Last International fixture: England 2-0 Costa Rica, 7 June 2018

One of Euro 96’s eight host stadiums, Leeds United’s promotion back to the Premier League has returned an historic ground to centre stage. Hosting an England international as recently as three years ago, Elland Road is in a strong position to stake a claim for hosting Euro 2020 fixtures. There are also plans for Elland Road to expand to a 50,000 capacity in the coming years.

I'm sure Doc mentioned something about this a week or two ago. Wonder if Doc is a member of Boris Johnson's cabinet :emoticon-0125-mmm:

Edit : Alternatively maybe Doc is Johnson's political advisor, so now you know who you can direct all your political issues too :emoticon-0102-bigsm

    Evening all...

Rodrigo resumed training last week, Llorente has completed back to back games, good to hear Berardi and Koch are also back in training. It will be interesting to see who the preferred pairing are when everyone is back. I assume it will be Llorente and Cooper

As I understand it from a friend of mine who works with UEFA that yes while the idea of moving the entire tournament to England is a back up plan it is really the last resort.
As far as he understands it the thinking is if a host venue can accommodate a % of spectators then the matches will go ahead. The percentage he quoted, you will have to excuse my memory for the specific number we discussed this after the Saturday night zoom quiz, is very low.
