He's unemployed and has been for some time, with a tarnished reputation. If it's true we are interested we will offer him the going rate I suspect, maybe a bit more to account for his previous pedigree. We won't break any club wage structure to get him, I am sure of that. He won't get an offer from anywhere else that's as good as ours with the potential we have going forward I reckon. So he can take it or continue being unemployed. If we go up he's playing for the biggest club outside the premier league at the start of a journey, under new very wealthy owners that could be the stage for his redemption as a player. I think as fans we underestimate the power of clubs in getting value for money from these players, yes they hold a lot of power but currently for unemployed players it's a buyer's market in these difficult times so I don't think many clubs will be running around with a blank cheque mentality when trying to sign them up.
Defoe ?.......Yep, in a heartbeat! .....if fact, if we got them both (never gonna happen though) Defoe's ability and attitude would probably motivate Sturridge and the whole squad.
Sturridge couldn't be motivated to play for Liverpool and if the rumour of our future recruitment being based on statistics/data/performance etc, I would hope they look long and hard at minutes played per season by Sturridge. To be clear, it's a definite no from me.
... in Saudi Arabia, I wonder in any of the Mags fancy it We've just been sent an invite, by an old contact, to apply for a job which made me laugh. On behalf of our client we are looking for a couple with organizational skills to run a full staffed Ranch in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia for a very respectful VIP family. The family use the ranch as Holiday House. Candidates must have European Passport and relevant experience. Need to have references, be polite and flexible for immediate start. Salary is up to 10K euros net for both, 12 salaries per year and 1 day off per week. They offer: • Full accommodation • Tax free • Full medical insurance • One month vacation per year • One airline ticket per year • Free transportation • Probation period.
TBH I no longer have a European passport, unless they mean something different. This is a problem now for people wanting to work abroad. The French vacancies are almost all asking for EEC applicants only. We enquired about a job on the Riviera, working for Russians, but they want an EEC passport or a work permit which is difficult to get. Our children and grandchildren will find it much more difficult to work in Europe, I'd imagine. We may have a better fish quota but our young people may have lost much more.
I am looking for a job - but having spent some time working in Jeddah, I'll give Riyadh a miss. My first visit to the Kingdom, I ended up spending 12 hours in a police cell because the police guard thought I'd taken some photos of the British Consul - it was literally across the road from the hotel where I was staying - I could have taken as many photos as I wanted from my room. Luckily I didn't have anything incriminating on my camera - otherwise I could have still been there
I've got a red passport, I suppose I could spray it blue but not sure if I could deal with the no drinking rule - especially when I'm watching the match!
My grandson is 8 next week. His dad is a mank supporter. I've bought him the odd Sunderland top and will hopefully take him to a game soon
My daughter ( his Mam) was a season tkt holder at Roker and the SOL even when she lived abroad. It’s hard right now to compete with Man United when you see where we are but she will do the right thing. One things for sure, he will go to see The Lads more often than he will see Man Utd.
They are soulless. My grandson might not grow up to be a Sunderland supporter but he'll probably always have a soft spot for us. I'll make sure of that
