How is it a clear penalty if the minimal contact from the challenge didn’t bring him down or impede his progress?

Football isn’t a non contact sport.

    Largely.

A few good turns and runs but quickly ruined by a terrible pass or just plain not really wanting it

    Well done us.

The win was easily predicted anyway. It was good for morale and arrests a run of defeats. But as the opposition was so poor I am not sure how much can be deduced about our form and recovery. If we didn’t beat such a bad side it would have been a disgrace.

Should have had at least 6.

Somehow got a clean sheet and 2.

Clean sheet is a shock having seen Phillips and kabak go for same ball, ball watch or just plain look slow.

We must want to buy ramsdale when they go down serious hugging and locking.

That was ok, deserved the points. Clean sheet away from home and put a little more pressure on the teams around us.

    Big game Thursday <cool>

    True.

Yeah it’s not like he ran into the defenders head with his knee then fell over.

Player slides in, doesn’t win the ball and catches his foot... it’s a foul. Stop being boring. Happens in the other area and you’re going down to stock key park to bang on the door and make sure they give it ffs.

Oddly my mate just sent me a phone clip of this one lmao<laugh> **** small screen but unless this differs when i see this on MOTD - Sadly i think you are wrong there
After a penalty was given for a player kicking a player under the foot on a clearance when ball was long gone
Followed by pundits and commentators alike all agreeing that ANY contact if you dont get the ball now equals a pen
I think it was a pen

Ftr i think you should be right tobes, but you aren’t
If mane goes down there its a pen end of
Refs never take into account whether the ball is gone or not anymore
    Contact usually equals pen

The game has gone to pieces

Performance was alright. Annoying missed chances in first half but kept going and got the early goal in second half. Phillips still showing why he’s near where near prem quality, got roasted by Burke when he came on but job we done.

Clean sheet will do bit of confidence. Need to make sure it’s not a one off now. Go best chelsea mid week then Fulham at weekend and suddenly it’s 9/9 and we’re favourites for top 4 again.

    He did.
I lost count of the times the commentator made that slip.

I missed most of the 2nd half for "reasons" so please tell me we improved on the first half performance as well as the goals .

Hinchcliffe in commentary actually praised him for not diving ffs. As you’re right, if he dives he gets a pen as there’s minimal contact. The fact that the contact was patently nothing as it didn’t even make him alter his stride, is now irrelevant in the game it seems. Hinchcliffe then laughed and said if it was still 0-0 he’d have defo dived though. <doh>

You get these donks talking about ‘a right to go down’, as if he doesn’t he doesn’t get a pen. I mean wtf has the game become?

Nice to see Keita fit enough to come on. CB's did OK, but were not up against much hopefully Fabinho will be back for Chelsea and maybe Jota on the bench. We had two keepers on the bench today, neither of whom are anywhere near the first team.

Thought Wdj played well, rumours are about he wants to stay if possible, but could just be agent talk to get a better deal from whoever signs him.
    Jones had a decent game.
