Point is it was never on after September. Seems clear Staveley was stringing people along - don’t forget this is her modus operandi in the sense of she lines up a seller then tries to find a buyer. She did exactly this with both Liverpool and City, yet was involved in neither takeover. One can only hope she has the same effect here and there’s enough eyes on the club to get it sold. There will be a takeover but it’ll be a much less volatile thing. Maybe the RB might. Maybe Kenyon. Maybe DaGrossa. I personally think relegation is our best shot, I don’t feel Ashley has any appetite to support the club once more and will cut losses to jump ship. As I’ve said he’s made his gamble and is on his way out, his gamble is whether he gets to sell a PL club or a relegated one.
His gamble in his eyes is a safe one. Minimum we just survive and he can sell for 300m. If we go down he sells ASM, Miggy, Wilson and Dubs for 120m. He takes that money. And then sells the club for 200m. He’s better off.
If the Saudi deal is dead then nobody else is buying NUFC for £300m in the PL. And it's an even greater fantasy to think someone will pay £200m for them in the Championship. If relegated, NUFC need to stay there and ride out the next 5 or 6 years while Ashley claws back his loans and then sells for a price around the £100m mark. That's the realistic value of a debt-free NUFC in the Championship once it has been stripped to the bone by the fat prick.
I still think that's too expensive. We don't own the ground. I'd say if we had been in the championship for a few seasons we'd be worth (depending on the player's we had) no more than £70M. Look at Sheffield Wednesday. They were bought for under £40m and they own their stadium
Newcastle isn't an attractive propersition... They're just buying cheaper clubs. They aren't bothered about how many fans they currently have. Newcastle United is done it's been stood around rusting away without proper investment for 2 decades and in that time other clubs have become bigger and better all around it. The premier league is full there's no room for your average billionaire unless the price is crazy low but nufc is not cheap and once relegated its going to be overpriced in comparison to other clubs. Mike ashley has destroyed the club forever and he's not even finished with it yet.
Probably right, I think Sheffield Wednesday is the exact kind of club NUFC could become actually. I also dont think anyone quite realises how many people are going to walk away from the club....and football altogether...at the end of this season. Next season in the Championship there will be under 30k at home games. And that is assuming the club is in the running for promotion. If they are marooned in mid-table or worse then your talking 20k crowds.
I started going to one of the local non league clubs to watch in August. NUFC just doesn't hold much interest.
The owner of nufc doesn't care one iota about his customers, so why bother? He's never going to leave until they make him, but they never do it
It's ending the worst way possible... I thought this would happen when it became apparent the premier league didn't want to let the Saudis in. There's not a hope in hell of us staying up now with the injuries we've got.
I remember people saying what of Wilson get injured, but we've got no Wilson, no Maximin and no almiron now, plus I juries 2 two right backs and our best ball playing centre half. I mean we lose more than half our games with them, so unless Fulham lose every single game too we're down...
