WBa beat BHA putting Potters team right in the crap, however the 3 worst goal difference records in the league are Newcastle, WBA and Sheff Utd if Fulham win this weekend and Newcastle lose Newcastle drop into the relegation area. Burnley Brighton Newcastle Fulham WBA Sheff Utd
Baren Cross scores are in: 17 Helder Costa - four Very much like the displays we have seen from the Portuguese across his time in West Yorkshire. Entirely ineffectual. 11 Tyler Roberts - five Not the type of performance which is going to keep him in the main thoughts of Marcelo Bielsa and co when it comes to the summer reshuffle. Had one decent effort sting the goalkeeper's hand, but not at it at all apart from that. Wasted chances when they came his way. Had little control in the middle and gave away fouls.
Think after tonights performance we can say that Beradi, Forshaw, Roberts, Hernandez, Alioski and maybe Costa will be leaving the club this Summer. Bielsa was fuming at Roberts when he pulled him off and refused to look at him. He was forced into making changes he didnt want to make as Struijk was having a fairly good game, Pablo added little and Alioski was either caught in possession or ran into dead ends. Really bad performance tonight, but it should now focus Bielsa’s attention on next term.
Exactly Doc. Defeat always hurts, however if it helps focus minds for next season then it's actually a good thing. We can argue the toss about who should be upgraded but the simple truth is we need a similar amount of investment to last summer
If Phil Hay is correct it seems Bielsa wants Kiko to stay. His thinking is that Kiko is helping Meslier and as a back up he is better than many options. Hay said Kiko is much better at coming through players to take the ball by punch or catch. Something Meslier struggles with. It seems to make a lot of sense and as Kiko has a contract to 2023 the cheapest option? I have watched Kiko in a few 23 games and he is on another level and hasnt made a mistake but great at organising the backs too. He helps
All the other teams in the PL, even the ones below us, seem to have two keepers of almost equal ability competing for the jersey. Sometimes Bielsa appears to be blinded by loyalty. Cheapest option isn't necessarily the best option. The backup keeper situation needs addressing. Coco isn't the solution.
Is hay feeling ok, he says kiko is better at catching the ball????? Sorry if that is correct then I have definitely gone into another dimension because all I have ever seen him do WHEN he has ventured off his line is flap....sorry not for me coco
Football can be cruel and last night was really cruel because a team won by parking the bus against a team who were trying to play entertaining football. The coach park was helped by a useless parking attendant who didnt issue enough tickets because Taggert should have been towed away. Leeds didnt help themselves with under par performances from just about everyone, and a couple should not play again. the standard of refs in the so-called best league in the world is a joke and even though the broadcaster use former refs as pundits they always back up stupid decisions taken by their colleague. Yesterday we saw stupidity and bias at ER and we saw incompetence at the WBA game that turned into a joke. BHA were actually given 2 penalties so had enough chances to win but failed to score. The BhA free kick goal was a comedy of errors and lets be frank here, that decision could relegate Brighton
That free kick was a total shambles. The goal should've stood. Ref clearly blew his whistle for them to take it, then disallowed it, then allowed it, then VAR disallowed it Time to get rid of VAR and get some competent refs - it's not that difficult a job.
It could still be a good weekend if: Palace and Fulham draw Arsenal get beat Burnley get beat Blunts get beat
Whatever happens this weekend it's been a great season, looking at the bigger picture, considering 3 of our 4 big money signings have hardly played. And we've done it with style. Already looking forward to next season. Should be fantastic.
Yeah brilliant and the most relaxed season as a Leeds supporter I can ever remember. We get beat but just shrug as our target was to finish 17th and we will beat that easily unless a fixture change has happened the U23s should be playing down at Palace tomoz and if so I bet you will see some fired up players trying to make sure Bielsa sees tham as first team for next season. Gelhardt has been on the bench for the last 4 games and therefore missed the last 23 match, so expecting him to smash it tomoz. Greenwood likewise as long as fit again, Drameh who has been up there with player of the season pretensions, Huggins, Kenneh and Summerville
We got beat by Liverpool but the Leeds players were getting 8s and 9s but yesterday we lost and the players were getting marked at 3,4,& 5 and thats the disappointing thing because many let themselves down and let Bielsa down. I think Meslier and Llorente and maybe Cooper were the only ones who did ok Against Man Utd our players were marked at 6&7 because they fought back and scared them to death
Whilst yes we dropped 3 points against a team who parked the bus to a large extent we should remember the score line was only 0-1 it’s not as if we got played off the park
