The UK's COVID-19 alert level has been downgraded from level 5 to level 4 in all four nations following advice from the Joint Biosecurity Centre.
This is my understanding also. The vaccine will 'stop' the symptoms and save lives, (of the vaccinated) , but they can still spread the virus. Social distancing and mask wearing will continue. I get tired of so many conflicting views. Do we just stick a pin in a list of recommendations and hope for the best?
Another 9,985 people have tested positive for #COVID19 in the latest 24-hour period, and a further 323 coronavirus-related deaths have been recorded. 18,691,835 people have had their first vaccine dose - an increase of 448,962 on yesterday.
Adults aged 40-49 will be next in line for Covid vaccine across UK JCVI says age-based approach is most effective, despite calls for teachers and police to be prioritised https://www.theguardian.com/world/2...l-be-next-in-line-for-covid-vaccine-across-uk
Am I reading this right? I'm a 56 year old white male, a key worker and I'm going to the back of the queue? Nice...
To be fair boomers, the finest generation of all, should all be vaccinated before they move on to lesser types.
Born 1946 to 1964 and you are a boomer. You are in stellar company... Reading the rollout you shouldn't be too long waiting, they expect over 40s to be vaccinated by mid April.
I'm 66 and haven't had mine yet because of a mistake by my Doctors surgery. Just waiting for the appointment now. Good job i'm self isolating
Kids come back full time a week on Monday. My GP reckons teachers get their first jab in June. I’m glad everybody vulnerable got theirs. But I was hoping to hear the words “alongside” instead of “after” for key workers. Ah well. Guess we can take the Rocky approach, if we die, we die.
If you’re a member of staff that works with a CV/CEV child, you’re eligible now. We’ve had some staff book theirs today for this reason.
It obviously depends on how old the teacher is, if its a teacher over 50, they'll have it in the next few weeks, over 40 a few weeks after that etc. Van Tam's just said in the presser, that if they were doing vaccine priority based on occupation, rather than age, teachers would be well down the list. Restaurant staff and taxi drivers being statistically far more likely to die than teachers.
I'm 57 and my wife is 56. We both got a text today inviting us to be vaccinated. Both booked for next Saturday - in time to get to the chippy afterwards and back home again before kick off.
