Good Morning Everyone. It's Thursday 25th February, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

Hay - Up to 5 new arrivals in the Summer

Leeds Utd journalist Phil Hay has revealed that Leeds plan on securing up to five new players in the Summer, but much will depend on who exits the club.

Ezgjan Alioski is one of the most likely to head to pastures new in the Summer. The 29yo North Macedonian International is in the final stages of his contract, and has shown little interest in renewing it, even though sources close to Elland Road indicate that a new contract is available.

One of Leeds top priorities in the Summer is to bring in a first choice left back! Currently the role has been shared between Alioski and Dallas. Perhaps this has made Alioski's decision for him. Dallas is a far more versatile player, that can put a shift in, anywhere on the pitch, and give a sterling performance.

After five years at the club, Pablo Hernandez's time will come to an end this Summer. He has been an amazing ambassador for the club, and obviously we all wish him well.

Jamie Shackleton hasn't taken the steps forward that Leeds fans would have hoped for. He has made several appearances, many cameo but his performances have been mainly forgettable. Is it time to move the 21yo on?

Tyler Roberts as we know blows hot and cold. What we may not know is that Bielsa is a big fan of the Welsh International. Whilst sentiment is unlikely to get in the way of the Argentine, Roberts may be safe for another season.

Helder Costa is another player who blows hot and cold. The arrival of Raphinha has certainly restricted the former Wolves ace to bit parts. My guess is that Leeds will listen for offers for the 27yo in the Summer. Leeds also have Ian Poveda who plays in a similar position on the right wing.

Adam Forshaw has been sidelined longer than the corona virus. Even if and when he returns, will he be the same player?

Leif Davis is now 21yo. He has had a handful of cameo appearances. There are many first team players in the Premiership younger than him. Is he good enough?

Kiko Casilla tenure at Elland Road will surely come to an end this Summer. He's on big wages at Leeds which will put a lot of clubs off.

Rodrigo hasn't set the World alight since his record transfer to Eland Road. If an offer around 23-24m were to come in for the 29yo, would you accept it?

    Fresh injuries decimate Leeds midfield

With Robin Koch, Ian Poveda, Gaetano Berardi, Rodrigo and Adam Forshaw sidelined, the last thing Bielsa needs to for any fresh new injuries.

Unfortunately for the Whites, two more casualties have been admitted to the treatment room ahead of Saturday's clash against Aston Villa.

Jamie Shackleton was absent from the match day squad against Southampton and Mateusz Klich was replaced on 59 minutes after needing treatment.

"After the game against Wolverhampton, Shackleton presented himself with some problems in his abductor that did not allow him to play today,"

"We don’t have information on Klich just yet," "I have to mention that he played whilst not being at 100 per cent," "It was an act of generosity from his part. It was another difficulty we had to endure throughout the first half. I value a lot that he sacrificed himself to be able to start this game."

Kinnear - Journey more of a roller coaster than expected

Leeds Managing Director Angus Kinnear has been speaking to the YEP about his time at Elland Road, and whether it had gone beyond his expectations!

“I think what has surprised me and it shouldn’t have surprised me because I came because I knew it was a big club but the size of the club and the scale of the club has surprised me which has followed the success.

“Not only is it owned by the city but there’s an interest in Leeds United globally which I don’t think exists for many clubs, probably any clubs outside the top six. So I think our ambition of being a top-six side was absolutely right.

“I think the journey that we have taken to get here has been more of a roller coaster than I expected.

“But I think the way that we went up last year and the way that we have approached the Premier League, I don’t think I could have hoped for any more.

“The team’s performances last year and the way that they stuck together both on and off the pitch, I have always said they will have a special place in Leeds United’s history for the way they acted, not only the way they played but the way they came together over Covid.

“I’m not sure the fans really realise what they did then but for me it was the best indication of side before self and it just showed how special the club is.”

    Morning all :emoticon-0148-yes:

Obviously a slow news day with nothing out of the normal happening. The only thing that happens on Thursdays is murderball, so hoping Llorente and everyone else gets through it in one piece and shows Bielsa why they should be playing on Saturday.

Story doing the rounds about Real Madrid player Luca Vazquez joining Leeds in the Summer. What I do know is that the media have him down as a RB, but factually he can play anywhere on the right side of the pitch, and that could be right side striker un a 2 or rightside AM? I know he is out if contract and told Zidane he will not sign again (unless ZZ is sacked) he is a £50m player for free but would need £80kpwk which is easy when you dont have to oay a transfer fee. Does Bielsa want him? I would say not as we already have Drameh as Aylings stand-in I hope and we have Raphinah and Rodrigo so think its just paper takk.

I am just choked up, the club is a special club, i love Leeds United & just so proud at the moment of everyone involved with the club, it's been a long time coming (real hope that is for the future), and can't wait to see a packed Elland Road on the first day back showing their appreciation, what a sight to behold, the place will be rocking, what a special moment in a fans life, for those lucky enough to be their.

When fans are allowed back in i think the club would be wise to have the players presented to fans pre warm-up along with the Championship Trophy, and then present Bielsa to the fans and let him see the sheer admiration of he fans. Then warm up and usual entrance and let the fans go wild seeing their Premier League team, a big day of celebration

Shackleton is worth sticking with. He hasn't set the world alight but no disasters either. His energy levels are a plus, needs a run of games in the Klich role

That should happen when a full capacity is allowed.

If it's 9000 (25%) who are back in for the final game this season then let's wait. In fact I'd rather we declined the option to have 25% back and all go back together at the start of next season.

Also I'm coming to the conclusion that Ayling needs serious competition for the right back slot. If we have that within the club then great, but whilst he's been absolutely brilliant for us you have to put his position as one that needs looking at.

Oh go on then....one more point.

How many were saying this summer we didn't need any more wingers ?

Raphinha proves good players are always needed.

    And finally...

Bielsa says if the club needs an answer now, then he'll give them one...obvioulsy Radz & Orta are wisely not going down that route in case they get the answer they don't want.

Seems Phil Hay has realised what many of us did ages ago, as he pushes Bielsa to use Nohan Kenneh as cover for Phillips. The kid is an U18 player but a beast and great footballer. Said it before he will Captain Leeds Utd and England one day. Anyone who watched last weeks war will remember that at times it was just Kenneh breaking up play and getting the team moving again.

Nice thought, but there's every chance it would mess with the players' heads. After the game, perhaps?

Didn't we have post season celebration friendly match against Sampdoria when we won the League in 92 ?

Seem to remember something like that...the obvious answer therefore is the last pre season game this August if possible. Guaranteed sell out and we all deserve a joint promotion/1st season survival celebration party.

Needs to be against someone decent though....Bayern Munich perhaps, the barstewards :emoticon-0173-middl

I bet Kinnear is kicking himself as it looks like England will be hosting the Euros due to travel bans everywhere. Elland Road is always used but we need to pitch ripping up and all the drainage redoing before laying another pitch ready for the new season

The Sampdoria game was the final of the makita Cup which was a pre season friendly tournament.

I went to that game and remember Batty kicking the **** out of the Italians. The ref told Wilko to sub him off or he would send him off.

Just recall Sampdoria being as suave as f*ck...all slicked backed hair, loafers and high end Italian tailoring.

Funny how people remember different things <laugh>

I think Batty went through Mancini a couple of times and they weren't happy.

When Leeds fans talk about past European matches you know they’re not panicking. Could it be that some are readying themselves for further conquests, mmmm I wonder :emoticon-0148-yes:

I was looking through old family videos the other day and I must have taped the highlights of that match on my camcorder. There was one bit where after a Batty tackle I think, there was a bit of handbags going on and you see some fecker threw the ball at Batts hitting the back of his head. <ok>
